Biography[]
Season 2[]
Kwon "Wraith" Ji-min first played under the name Loray for a Korean challenger-level team called PSW Ares in 2012, with teammates Ragan, Ssumday, and SuNo. The team played in the eleventh NiceGameTV Battle Royal, losing 0-3 to NaJin Shield.
Season 3[]
In February 2013, Loray joined ahq e-Sports Club Korea.[22] The team, including Loray, HooN, TrAce, ActScene, and Promise played in OLYMPUS Champions Spring 2013 but did not advance from their group. The roster released their roster on May 4.[23] When ahq was implicated in matchfixing in March 2014, Loray was not found guilty.[24] [25] After the ahq roster was released, the team continued to play under the name Hoon Good Day (훈수좋은날), and Loray played with them in NLB Spring 2013, finishing in the quarterfinals of the Diamond stage, losing 3-1 to KT Rolster B. That placing caught the attention of Jin Air Green Wings, and on July 10, the roster (HooN, TrAce, ActScene, ŁØAÐ, and Loray) was acquired by that organization to from Jin Air Green Wings Stealths.[26] Loray changed his name to IceBear at this time. IceBear played with the Stealths in HOT6iX Champions Summer 2013, but the team finished in last place in their group, including themselves, CJ Entus Blaze, Chunnam Techno University, and NaJin Black Sword.
2014 Season[]
In PANDORA.TV Champions Winter 2013-2014, the Stealths once again finished last in their group, this time with Xenics Storm, CJ Entus Frost, and Jin Air Falcons. IceBear and HooN left the Stealths on January 22.[27] After PoohManDu stepped down from the starting lineup of SK Telecom T1 K for medical reasons, IceBear was invited to join the team as their new support player; the rest of the roster was the same as the Worlds-winning team: Impact, bengi, Faker, and Piglet. Changing his name to Casper, he joined the team on February 9, 2014. Casper played with SKT K in the group stage of HOT6iX Champions Spring 2014 for their first four games, but then the team moved back to starting PoohManDu for the rest of the group stage and the bracket stage. Casper also started for the first half of the SK Telecom LTE-A LoL Masters 2014 tournament. He left the team on May 26.[28]
2015 Season[]
Other than a brief run with a team that attempted to qualify for OGN but failed early in the process, it wasn't until December 2014 that Casper found a new team; he joined the new lineup of Samsung Galaxy in December 2014, along with teammates CuVee, Eve, BlisS, and Fury. The team played in the 2015 Champions Spring Preseason. Samsung played in SBENU Champions Spring 2015 but placed last and were forced to play in the 2015 Champions Summer Promotion. Samsung qualified for SBENU Champions Summer 2015 when they placed first in their group by beating Prime Clan and Xenics. Luna joined the team before SBENU Champions Summer 2015 to share the starting support position with Wraith. Samsung placed seventh during the regular season and missed playoffs but they qualified for the next season of LCK.
2016 Preseason[]
Samsung competed in the 2015 LoL KeSPA Cup where they were placed against Ever in the first round. To the surprise of many, Samsung was quickly dispatched 2-0. Wraith did not compete at this tournament.
2016 Season[]
During the 2016 LCK Spring Season, Samsung Galaxy went 10-8 in sets overall. After looking like they could clinch the fifth and final seed for the Spring Playoffs, Samsung Galaxy were unfortunately denied by the surging Afreeca Freecs, who beat them by the game score tiebreaker, giving Samsung sixth place for the split.
During the 2016 LCK Summer Split, Samsung stayed a top four team throughout the split, notably taking a 2-0 series win against the ROX Tigers, one of two teams to do so. However consistent they were against the teams below them, Samsung rarely won against the three teams above them - ROX Tigers, SK Telecom T1, and KT Rolster. They managed to take fourth place with a 12-6 series record, seeding them into the first round of the 2016 LCK Summer Playoffs. Though they summarily defeated the Afreeca Freecs in the first round, they were matched against KT Rolster, a team who they had never managed to beat post-S4 in the LCK era, and they were swept 3-0, giving them fourth place in the season. Their accumulated points gave them enough to qualify as the second seed in the 2016 Season Korea Regional Finals. In a rematch against the Afreeca Freecs, Samsung lost the first game before swapping out Wraith for new ADC-turned-support CoreJJ. With this swap, Samsung managed to beat the Freecs 3-1, moving up to the finals in a rematch against KT Rolster. With CoreJJ, Samsung upset the heavy favorites 3-2, breaking a 19 game losing streak and giving them the third seed to worlds.
At the 2016 Season World Championship, Samsung were drawn into Group D along with NA's Team SoloMid, China's Royal Never Give Up, and Europe's Splyce.
