Biography[]
Woong started gaming at the age of 5 when he followed his brother to an arcade. At the age of 10 his family got a computer, and started playing Imjinrok. At the age of 12 he started playing Starcraft, the went on to play MMORPGs. He didn't start playing MOBAs till he was 18 where he picked up DotA for fun. He moved on to Chaos then League of Legends where he realized that gaming isn't just fun, it is competitive too. He started to work hard as soon as he hit level 30 and made it to the front page of the solo queue ladder. He then went on to make MiG and later took on his sponsor's name Azubu where he was the Top laner.[17] He switched positions to AD Carry after the loss of Locodoco. He was a renowned top laner, but switch to AD carry and picked up Shy as his new replacement in the top lane. Also, as a team captain, he is the one who leads most of team fight and ban-pick strategy. In March 2013, just after the IEM Season VII - World Championship, he decided to leave his team CJ Entus Frost and finished his professional gaming career as a player. In May 2013, he announced his come back that he will play a role as the coach of a new MiG (Maximum impact Gaming Blitz and Maximum impact Gaming Wicked) team with new players.[18] However, the new MiG did not perform well in HOT6iX Champions Summer 2013. Therefore, on September 4, 2013, Woong announced via Facebook that he decided to return to competitive League of Legends as a top laner and he is going to build up an another MiG with Locodoco, who left NaJin White Shield in early September and will be the AD Carry for the new MiG.[19] In September, it was instead announced that that Woong would join Quantic Gaming as the top laner in their new roster and going to compete in the North America competitive League of Legends scene.[20]On September 29, Woong returned to Korea and left Quantic Gaming. His position was replaced by SuNo.[21]
Trivia[]
- His favorite champions are Renekton, Shyvana and Kennen. [22]
- Known as rjsdndgod; he has had several accounts on the front page of the soloqueue ladder in NA server.
- Known as "Mengdu" from "Mengduo yisheng" meaning "Dr.Mundo" in Chinese. When asked what Woong looks like, a Chinese fan replied "Well...Dr. Mundo?" [23]
- Performed a joyful winning ceremony known as "Uaahh, ddang-ddang-ddang bbang!(우아, 땅땅땅 빵!)" after winning against CLG Europe in semifinal of Season 2 World Championship.[24]
- Has a negative reputation in the community due the following:
- Frequent trolling and misconduct, use of abusive language during his amateur days.[26]
- His "betrayal" of Ring Troll. Woong kicked him off the team right before finals after Ring participated in most of MiG's games during WCG without offering a proper reason. According to Woong, he discharged Ring Troll for participating other team's practice game, but real reason was to invite Locodoco into team, and they kept whole process secret to Ring Troll himself only.[27]
- Cheated by looking upwards at the spectator display monitor during a Season 2 World Championship game vs Team Solomid resulting in Azubu Frost being fined $30,000.[28]
- He finally apologized to Ring Troll about his misconduct, a few weeks after his retirement, because he worried about his former team CJ Entus Frost to be blamed by preventing him from making an apology. [29]
- Woong was again caught cheating and his team was disqualified from an online tournament. Many speculated that he replaced their mid-laner with another player which was against the rules in the tournament they are participating in.
