Notes[]
- Wit's End's additional on-hit damage does not apply to structures.
- Ornn can upgrade this Item to a Mastwerwok Item:
Trivia[]
- Before an update, Wit's End gave 42 on-hit magic damage and attack speed. Considering the item's name, this was probably a reference to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, where 42 is the answer to "the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything".

Patch History[]
We're removing some of the level- and stat-scaling from various items in order to slow date late-game combat. While Wit's End has come a long way from when it also gave 40 AD on purchase, it's still a solid aggressive item with a meaningful amount of magic resist and tenacity. And it doesn't need to scale into one of the highest on-hit items in the game to perform that duty.
- Attack Speed: 55% ⇒ 50%
- Magic Resist: 50 ⇒ 45
- On-hit Damage: 40-80 ⇒ 45
Wit's End had its on-hit damage scaled back when it used to give flat attack damage as well, which had made it overbearing in lane against magic damage champions. Now that the AD is gone, it's become somewhat of a trap as an early purchase. By smoothing out its early game damage, it should once again be viable as a first item.
- Fray: 15-80 ⇒ 40-80
- Total Cost: 3200 ⇒ 2800 gold
- Item Recipe: Hearthbound Axe + Null-Magic Mantle + Recurve Bow + 950 gold ⇒ Recurve Bow + Negatron Cloak + Dagger + 900 gold
- Attack Speed: 40% ⇒ 55%
- Magic Resist: 40 ⇒ 50
- REMOVED Attack Damage: 40 ⇒ 0
- new Tenacity: 0 ⇒ 20%
- Passive - Fray: Attacks apply 15-80 (based on level) bonus magic damage on-hit and grant the user 20 bonus movement speed for 2 seconds ⇒ Attacks apply 15-80 (based on level) bonus magic damage on-hit
Wit's End has been powerful as an early defensive and offensive option for attack speed champions. However, considering its threat as a DPS item, its build path and stats counter magic damage a bit too much, too early.
Wit's End has become a powerful early rush item for a variety of attack speed champions. While it's good to offer early attack speed options, Wit's End often becomes the best choice regardless of how much magic damage the enemy team has. We're reshaping its damage scaling so that it's just as powerful late but isn't only being picked up for its early damage value.
For such a niche item, Wit's End lacks oomph, even when picked up in the right scenario. Adjusting the build path and adding more damage should make it feel more powerful all around and appeal to more champions.
Patch 10.23
Now grants movement speed on-hit instead of healing.
With a few more healing options in the mythic space, we had to be judicious with other sources of healing. Replaced with movement speed to offer light fighters (Fiora, Yi, Ekko, etc) another powerful form of utility. Now with more AD to broaden appeal among fighters.

Patch 9.7
Attack speed, magic resist, cost increased. Now grants movement speed. On-hit damage lower early, higher late. No longer steals magic resist but now heals on-hit.
Making Wit's End more slot-efficient for attack speed bruisers. It can now fill the gap where one would consider Maw of Malmortius, but can't due to the overlap in passives with Sterak's Gage (Lifeline). It'll also be less of an early-rush item now that its new UNIQUE effect scales better throughout the game.
BUILD PATH : | Recurve Bow + Negatron Cloak + Dagger + | [380] | |
⇒ | 880 | gold |
v8.4
Cost decreased. On-hit damage increased. Max magic resist drain increased, but magic resist per stack halved on ranged champions.
Wit's End is consistently stronger on ranged champions than melee, and that strength prevents us from making it a viable item on the basic-attacking bruisers who may otherwise pick it up. Splitting those two up should help with balancing this item.
v6.10
Cost down.
Wit’s End should feel like a viable magic resist option for on-hit users, but just doesn’t cut it in terms of efficiency. Mixing up a new build path (and cutting costs) should make it feel like a real contender for your inventory, especially if you plan on attacking a lot and taking magic damage.
