Team Fusion was previously a North American team.
History[]
2015 Preseason[]
Team Fusion was announced on October 23, 2014, in order to compete in the 2014 North American Expansion Tournament and join the North American League Championship Series (LCS). The team's initial starting roster consisted of OnGameNet veterans MakNooN in top lane and HuHi in mid, and LCS veterans NintendudeX as jungler, Nientonsoh as AD carry, and Gleebglarbu playing support. The team initially competed on the ranked 5's ladder with substitute Bee Sin filling in for MakNooN before his arrival from Korea. They finished third on the ladder, ahead of Team LoLPro and behind Enemy eSports. With a large support staff and a roster containing four well-known players, the team immediately became a fan favorite going into the Expansion Tournament.
On November 17, it was announced that Chunkyfresh would be playing in the first two (online) rounds of the Expansion Tournament in place of Gleebglarbu. Additionally, coach Noblesse left the organization and Bee Sin became an assistant coach, while Dynasty officially became the team's head coach.[1][2] In the online rounds, Team Fusion advanced after a forfeit from Team Confusion, and then defeated Enemy eSports 2-0. MakNooN famously played Poppy in both games and drew pressure to his lane. After a few weeks off from practice, Gleebglarbu returned to the starting lineup for the offline tournament.[3]
In the offline tournament, Team Fusion narrowly beat Final Five 3-2 after losing the first two games. They then lost to Curse Academy 3-1 and were knocked down to the loser's bracket to face Team Coast. This time, Fusion got ahead 2-0 but then ultimately lost the series and did not qualify for the LCS. However, their participation in the online portion of the Expansion Tournament automatically qualified them for the NACS Spring Season.
2015 Season[]
In early January, MakNooN was released from the starting roster.[4] Just a month later, NintendudeX suffered two seizures within a short period of time. As a result, he temporarily stepped down from the team, while MiMo was used as a temporary sub for the first week of the NACS.[5][6] NintendudeX returned for the second week.[7] After a pattern of losing almost every off-stream game and winning every on-stream game, Fusion finished the NACS season in third place, with a 6-4 record, splitting 1-1 against every team except for CLG Black. In the playoffs, Fusion lost to Team Dragon Knights and then beat Final Five, finishing in third place. Despite Fusion's defeat by TDK, LCS eighth place team Winterfox chose to play against TDK in the Promotion Tournament, leaving Fusion to face ninth place Dignitas for a spot in the summer LCS season. Fusion lost the series 2-3 but retained an automatic qualification into the NACS Summer Season; however, the team disbanded, and the organization rebranded itself as a sponorship and branding agency.[8][9]
