Team Aze was a Latin American team formed in December 2017.
History[]
Team Aze started operations in Yucatán, México back in 2017. In March 2019, they entered the recently created Circuito Nacional México in an attempt to succeed and be part of the teams integrating the División de Honor. However, their first run in the semi-professional circuit ended in a bad note, after they were disqualified prior to the DDH 2019 Closing Promotion due to roster ineligibility.
For the second split, the team managed to maintain its great performance and after four good qualifiers, they advanced to the DDH 2020 Opening Promotion in first place taking the Direct Qualifier spot for the tournament. Sadly, they would fall short in their series against Anáhuac Esports with a 3-2 score, but due to a new partnership between INFINITY and Anáhuac, they still got the chance to join the DDH by acquiring the vacant spot.
Since their debut in the Mexican national league, Team Aze always stood at the top finishing as the best team in the regular season of both 2020 splits, but as they managed to do this, a new rivalry formed with Estral Esports with whom they played both finals, with the latter taking them all. After the buyout of Pixel Esports Club's spot and the arrival of Estral to the LLA for its 2021 season, they foresaw another chance to cement their top position with no apparent rivals.
However, the addition of LDM Mexico surprised everyone in the league, as they would conquer their first title in the DDH in their debut split. Following a big controversy and the sudden dissolving of LDM Mexico, the team finally reached the glory in an incredible split during the DDH 2021 Closing Season. With an unbelievable perfect season crushing every single of their opponents on the road to the Regional Norte 2021, they made history by not only taking the triumph and ascending to the Liga Latinoamérica, but also by making the longest win streak in pro League of Legends history.
As they moved forward to Latin America's premier league, Team Aze signed an entirely new roster led by a championship-winning coaching staff, finishing second in the LLA 2022 Opening Season and making it to the grand finals in their first attempt, where they faced their longtime rivals and made history once again by winning the title, becoming the only squad to do it after their promotion. They also became the first team to represent Latin America on the international stage with import players, at the 2022 Mid-Season Invitational.
During their competitive history, they were crowned once as Latin American champions.[1]
Trivia[]
- Following their win at the DDH 2021 Closing Playoffs, they became the third and last team to complete a perfect split in a Latin American national league.
- Known for achieving the longest winning streak in pro League of Legends history, with their 42 straight victories collected from May 2021 to January 2022.
- First and only team to win the LLA after being promoted the season prior.
