Biography
Tactical started playing League of Legends in Season 3 and first reached challenger in 2017. He began his competitive career by competing for various amateur organizations between 2016 and 2017. In 2018, Tactical joined Super Nova and helped lead it to several 1st- and 2nd-place finishes in amateur tournaments. He also performed well in solo queue and received an invitation to the 2018 NA Scouting Grounds, where he was drafted onto Team Infernal Drake. His team placed 2nd at the tournament and Tactical was awarded a trophy for being one of the Top 5 Prospects.
At the beginning of the 2019 season, Tactical joined TSM Academy. Although the team had not performed well in the 2018 season, with Tactical and new support Treatz the team finished 2nd in the regular season and 1st in playoffs. In Summer, Tactical split play time with trainee bot laner Johnsun, who replaced Tactical in four regular season games. The team struggled to replicate its Spring success and finished the regular season in 4th place. In playoffs, the team underwent more roster changes as top laner Brandini was benched for disciplinary reasons and Grig swapped roles to replace him. The team was eliminated in the semifinals.
2020 Season
Tactical moved to Team Liquid Academy at the beginning of the 2020 season. However, the main team's jungler problems again caused instability in the academy roster, as Team Liquid jungler Broxah could not play for the first three weeks of the season due to visa issues and academy jungler Shernfire was moved to the main roster to replace him. The academy roster played with last-minute substitution MikeYeung and started with a 5-game losing streak. Once Shernfire returned to the team in the fourth week, the team went on to win six of their next seven games. In Week 6, the main roster's bot laner Doublelift was unable to play due to sickness and Tactical was moved to the main roster to replace him.
In his LCS debut, Tactical won both of his games and even put up an exceptional performance against 100 Thieves where he went 5/0/1, gained 72 more CS than his lane opponent Cody Sun, and won player of the game. After the impressive debut, and due to Doublelift's previous poor performance and motivation issues, Tactical was permanently moved to the main roster to split time with Doublelift on a week-by-week basis. TL dominated the summer split, posting a 15-3 record, and Tactical was voted the Rookie of the Year. In playoffs, Tactical singlehandedly turned around a game against FlyQuest when he achieved a 3v5 quadrakill on Kalista,[29] but TL lost the series and was eliminated by TSM to finish 3rd. At Worlds 2020, TL topped their Play-In group to qualify for the main event, where they were seeded into Group A alongside Suning and G2 Esports. The team finished 3-3 and was eliminated in groups.
2021 Season
Tactical remained on TL for the 2021 season. Although on a star-studded roster that included Alphari and Santorin, disciplinary and health issues led to roster instability over the course of the year. This instability translated into underwhelming domestic results relative to expectations, with consecutive 2nd place finishes in the playoffs of both splits. Near the end of the season, Tactical's support CoreJJ would roam frequently to assist Alphari; Tactical had the lowest support proximity of any bot laner in the LCS. He thrived in this situation on unorthodox picks such as Ziggs, which allowed him to farm safely while isolated. At Worlds 2021, TL again went 3-3 and was eliminated in groups.
2022 Season
Despite some impressive individual statistics, Tactical was replaced on TL by Hans sama and went to TSM for the 2022 season. TSM was wracked by roster instability and internal problems, with coach Peter Zhang being involved in a major financial scandal and support Shenyi badmouthing Tactical in a leaked message. The team finished 9th in spring; after a poor start to summer, Tactical was sent down to academy and replaced by Instinct. In the summer playoffs, Tactical was surprisingly substituted back onto the main roster in the middle of a series against FlyQuest. After helping lead TSM to an upset victory over the higher-seeded team, he maintained his starting spot in the next series against Evil Geniuses. Although EG was heavily favored, the series went to five games. TSM ultimately lost, being eliminated 5-6th.
2023 Season
At the beginning of the 2023 season, Tactical moved to Immortals.
