Biography[]
William "Stunt" Chen joined Call Gaming in May 2014, along with teammates DarkBlight, iucid, Environmental, and Rakin. The team qualified for the NA Expansion Tournament via the ranked 5's ladder but then lost to Team Coast in the first round of the tournament and were eliminated. On December 22, Call Gaming parted with their Expansion roster and Stuntopolis left the team.[32]
2016 Season[]
Stunt played with Astral Authority in the NA Challenger Series Open Qualifier, where they placed third after a semifinal loss to Team Frostbite and then a third-place victory over Also Known As. This finish gave them the fourth seed in the qualifier itself, due to Vortex's dropping out. Prior to the qualifier, the team left the organization and reformed under the name Samadder Gaming; however, the roster did not stay with Samadder for long and ultimately competed in the qualifier under the name "Astral Authority," successfully qualifying for the NACS. However, Stunt didn't stay with the team for the season, instead accepting an offer to play with Ember.[33]
Ember finished second in the regular season, with a 3-1-1 record. Additionally, Stunt played for Echo Fox for one game of the LCS, when the entire Ember roster (other than underage jungler Contractz) substituted for them. Due to Contractz's ineligibility to play in the promotion tournament, Ember signed Santorin as a substitute starting with the NACS playoffs. They lost in the first round to Team Dragon Knights. After their failure to qualify for the LCS, Ember released all of their players except for Contractz, and Stunt left the team.[34]
Stunt joined Team Liquid Academy in May.[35] Although the team had decent performances in the NA CS, they lost 2-3 to Cloud9 Challenger in the 2016 NA CS Summer Playoffs. They failed to qualify for the NA LCS after a 2-3 loss to Echo Fox in the 2017 Spring Promotion Tournament. Stunt left the team in August of 2016.
2017 Season[]
For 2017, Stunt joined Dignitas as a substitute behind starting support Xpecial. With Dignitas getting off to a 2-6 start, Stunt saw time in three games, including a series win over Team EnVyUs. However, before the start of Week 7, Stunt was acquired by Phoenix1 to replace Adrian, who left the team due to conflicts with teammates. Phoenix1 won every game in Week 7 and 8 with Stunt starting, but after losing the first game of Week 9 to Cloud9, he was subbed out for Shady, who played all the remaining games. P1 finished in third place with an 11-7 record.
In the playoffs, Stunt started all three games in a sweep of his former team Dignitas. However, Stunt only played one more game for Phoenix1 in the playoffs, a loss in the semi-finals to Cloud9, as Shady started in the semi-finals and in all five games of the third-place match against FlyQuest.
With Phoenix1 electing to go with Shady for the summer season, Stunt left the team and joined Immortals as a substitute. With Immortals finishing second in both the regular season and playoffs and qualifying for the Worlds 2017, Stunt was not called upon.
2018 Season[]
Immortals were not selected to join the newly franchised LCS for 2018, so Stunt left the team and joined FlyQuest as their starting support. Despite mid laner Fly's visa issues, FlyQuest started the spring season a respectable 2-2 but declined after that, finishing 6-12 and in eighth place. Stunt played every game for FlyQuest, except for two games in the middle of the season when he was subbed out for academy support JayJ.
Stunt left FlyQuest and joined 100 Thieves Academy for the summer academy split. 100A spent most of the split at or around the .500 mark but improved in the latter half of the split, ending up in sixth place with a 10-8 record. In the playoffs, they took third seed CLG Academy to five games, but fell, ending their season.
2019 Season[]
Stunt remained with 100 Thieves Academy for 2019, the only member of their 2018 roster to do so. The team's spring academy split was similar to the previous summer's, as they once again finished 10-8, although this time it left them in a four-way tie for third place. In the playoffs, 100A was randomly drawn to face Echo Fox Academy, and once again took the series to five games, only to lose. With the LCS team in last place and eliminated from playoff contention, Stunt and the other academy players also played the final two matches of the LCS spring split, but lost both games.
100 Thieves Academy again retained Stunt for the academy summer split. The team started the split 1-4 but received an unexpected boost when the struggling LCS roster transferred star top laner Ssumday to the academy team. With him in tow, 100A went 11-2 over the remainder of the split, finishing in third place. In the academy playoffs, they defeated Echo Fox Academy and first-seeded Cloud9 Academy, sending them to the finals against Golden Guardians Academy, who they defeated 3-1 to win their first academy title.
2020 Season[]
For the 2020 season, Stunt was rewarded for his time with the 100 Thieves organization by being named their started LCS support. In a spring season dominated by first-place Cloud9, 100 Thieves were part of a cluster of teams hovering around the .500 mark and the playoff picture for most of the split, until a 2-0 final week brought them into a three-way tie for second place. 100 Thieves defeated FlyQuest in the first round of tiebreakers but lost to Evil Geniuses in the second round, leaving them in third place.
In the playoffs, 100 Thieves were chosen by Cloud9 in the first round and quickly swept. This sent them to the losers' bracket against fifth-place TSM. The series went to five games, but 100 Thieves lost in the decider, ending their season.
Stunt remained with 100 Thieves for the summer season, but after a 1-5 start, the team announced that academy support Poome would be playing on the LCS roster going forward. Stunt left the team the next day.
