Biography[]
Etienne "Steve" Michels is from Strasbourg, France. He started playing games with Pokemon and Legend of Zelda on the Gameboy and then switched to PC gaming with Age of Empires and Sim City, then Unreal Tournament, Guild Wars, Warcraft 3, and Dota before beginning to play League of Legends.
League of Legends Career[]
Steve started playing League of Legends on the NA server. In the first week of ranked play, he reached 1530 Elo, which was top 30 on the server at the time. He moved to the EU server when it was created. Originally an AD carry player in seasons 1 and 2, Steve switched to toplane during season 3 when he started playing with amateur teams. After graduating from high school, he decided to take a year off from studies to pursue competitive gaming from 2013-2014, and during that time he played with Team ESC Gaming and Steve Bakes Cookies.
2015 Preseason[]
At the end of his gap year, Steve returned to school, studying physics and engineering. However, when Sparta approached him to become their toplaner in October 2014, Steve agreed and put his studies on hold again to move to Paris and live in their gaming house. With Sparta, Steve qualified for the EU Expansion Tournament via the ranked 5's ladder. Sparta were knocked out in Round 1 of the online phase after being beaten by Different Dimension.
2015 Season[]
After a couple months with Team-LDLC, Steve joined ROCCAT, replacing Overpow for the LCS Summer Season. The split itself was relatively successful for Steve and the team, finishing the regular season in 5th place partly thanks to Steve's impressive performances on Maokai and Ekko in particular. This meant they would qualify for the Summer Playoffs, where the team were beaten in the quarterfinals by Unicorns Of Love, meaning that they would pick up 20 Championship Points and go on to play in the 2015 Season Europe Regional Finals. Team ROCCAT went on to lose to eventual qualifiers Origen in Round 2 of the gauntlet.
2016 Season[]
In December 2015, Team ROCCAT announced they would loan Steve and MrRalleZ to an unnamed Challenger team for the 2016 spring season;[17] however, the two instead joined LCS team Elements. Elements's roster for the 2016 season seemed weak to fans, and many expected them to be relegated; however, they were able to hang on to seventh place for the majority of the split to automatically requalify for the summer split without seeing any post-season play.
Trivia[]
- Has lived in Belgium and Saudi Arabia.
