- Biography
Crafted long ago as a plaything for a lonely prince, the enchanted marionette Shaco now delights in murder and mayhem. Corrupted by dark magic and the loss of his beloved charge, the once-kind puppet finds pleasure only in the misery of the poor souls he torments. He uses toys and simple tricks to deadly effect, finding the results of his bloody “games” hilarious—and for those who hear a dark chuckle in the dead of night, the Demon Jester may have marked them as his next plaything. |

Patch History[]
W damage ratio decreased. E AP damage ratio decreased.
AD Shaco’s in a good spot, but his AP jungle and support builds are significantly stronger and need to be cranked back a bit.
W - Jack In The Box
E - Two-Shiv Poison
Patch 10.6
R clone basic attack damage decreased.
AD Shaco is just a bit too strong right now, so we’re aiming for a soft nerf.
R - Hallucinate
Patch 9.24b
E damage ratio decreased; cost flattened.
Shaco is overperforming across the board in all his roles (AD jungler, AP jungler, AP support). Looking to bring him down a bit.
E - Two-Shiv Poison
DAMAGE : | [70-170 (+0.8 bonus AD) (+0.6 AP)]
⇒ | 70-170 (+0.7 bonus AD) (+0.55 AP) |
Patch 9.21
W box duration decreased.
Shaco landed in a strong spot after 9.20, so we're doing some light touch-ups to address specific concerns about his lane presence and early jungle power.
W - Jack In The Box
Patch 9.10
R casts adjusted.
We're modernizing Shaco's ultimate.
R - Hallucinate
APPEAR : | [Random position 50-250 range in any direction around cast position, facing a random direction]
⇒ | 200 range in the direction of Shaco's cursor, facing the clone |
CLONE APPEAR : | [Random position 50-250 range in any direction around cast position, facing a random direction]
⇒ | 200 range in the opposite direction of Shaco's cursor, facing Shaco |
Patch 9.9
Sweeping Lens no longer reveals and immediately activates stealthed W.
Changing Sweeping Lens’ interaction with Shaco's boxes so enemies don’t completely neutralize his signature toys from a distance with little consequence.
W - Jack In The Box
v8.7
Q bonus damage ratio reduced; window to proc bonus damage and cooldown reduction effect reduced.
Last patch gave Deceive a lot more power to compensate for the Duskblade changes. It was a bit much, so this patch we're tightening up the window in which he can use that power.
Q - Deceive
v8.6
Q now grants Shaco's next basic attack bonus physical damage.
Q - Deceive
E - Two-Shiv Poison
BASE DAMAGE : | [50/75/100/125/150]
⇒ | 55/80/105/130/155 |
v7.13
E base damage down. E scaling up at later levels. E damage now physical instead of magical. E Execute paradigm altered.
Shaco isn’t getting to live out his assassin fantasy, instead playing as a “sort of tanky fighter with some dashes and a slow that allows him to stick to one target and stat check them to death”. We want him to feel more rewarded for building damage and stabbing people.
E - Two-Shiv Poison
v7.7
Passive attack damage scaling down. Q base damage removed, cooldown increased. Q's ability power ratio moved to Passive.
Shaco's mini-update brought him to the fore as one of the most prominent junglers in solo queue, with some cameos in pro play to boot. He’s currently dealing a frustrating amount of damage in the instant he comes out of invisibility, considering most of it’s impossible to avoid (especially from you, AD Shaco). We’re bringing his surprise burst back down to more reasonable levels.
Passive - Backstab
Q - Deceive
Shaco’s burst damage is too high - especially AP Shaco's. It’s one thing to have a high-damage combo, but Shaco’s ability to murder from stealth doesn’t give opponents enough time to react.
Q - Deceive
E - Two-Shiv Poison
R - Hallucinate
v6.24
Buff-fixes for Backstab.
Cleaning up a few quirks where Backstab wasn’t doing what you’d expect it to.
Passive - Backstab
v6.22
R leaves a nest of Jack-in-the-boxes on death. W has more health.
While Shaco’s changelist may appear large, the goals are actually very simple: dialing back his extremes. Shaco’s well known for ending games quickly - either by dominating so hard one team surrenders, or failing to convert those beginning minutes and quickly diminishing in effectiveness. We’re reducing the power of Shaco’s frustrating early ganks and translating that power into more utility within skirmishes. By shifting when exactly Shaco can impact a game most, we’re making him more accessible to the average player while letting the trained Shaco mains out there display their dominance (without causing as many broken keyboards).
General
Passive - Backstab
Upon attacking a unit from behind, Shaco critically strikes them. Shaco can’t backstab the same unit for a short duration.
Q - Deceive
W - Jack In The Box
E - Two-Shiv Poison
R - Hallucinate
v6.12
Backstab displays a separate damage number.
When champions can turn front or back on a dime, knowing when someone’s facing towards or away from you can be a bit of a challenge. Cassiopeia’s Petrifying Gaze gets around this by showing you some pretty clear feedback - ‘are they stunned? Guess they were facing me.’ For Shaco, this isn’t always so simple. Factor in all the different ways that Shaco can amplify his basic attacks (critical strike, Deceive’s bonus damage, sheen, etc) and you can lose track of whether or not you’re actually backstabbing pretty quickly. This is a very long context to say something pretty simple: if you see more sets of numbers, you’re doing it right.
Passive - Backstab
v5.22
Hallucination gets some nice improvements, and E slows monster attack speed rather than causing them to miss.
This might look like the longest set of changes Shaco's gotten in a million years, but the actual gist of this is we're cleaning up a mechanic that doesn't make much sense (E making monsters miss, but only sometimes?) and making Hallucination more tricky, in line with our other clone changes this patch. Shaco might not see an insane boost in effectiveness, but to the 3 shaco masters out there - we salute you.
E - Two-Shiv Poison
R - Hallucinate
