Low-price reactive purchases should be solid options that let you slightly delay your offensive buildup in order to slow down threats against you. They're not meant to turn you invulnerable, but meaningfully shift how easily you can be killed. If these items are strong, players should be willing to buy them sometimes without them being default purchases every time the appropriate matchup shows up. Right now, Seeker's Armguard is below the bar set by items like Hexdrinker and Bramble Vest. This is a small buff aimed at making the occasional detour into early armor worthwhile for mages.
- Armor: 15 ⇒ 20
Seeker’s Armguard has been a relatively weak component for some time now. We don’t want it to turn into an early anti-assassin item that discourages aggression from opponents in lane, so we’re opting to increase its AP stats so it’s more comparable to other Zhonya’s components.
Seeker's Armguard and Verdant Barrier have been doing their job a bit too well, keeping AP scaling champs too safe as the laning phase progresses, which masks their intended weaknesses and contributes to a particularly dull meta. We’re adjusting the strength of these mid-tier items, while retaining the power level of the Legendary items they build into (Zhonya’s Hourglass and Banshee’s Veil).
Simplifying and making the item cheaper.
v8.9
Total cost decreased.
Seeker's Armguard is a reactive purchase for mages who need extra armor in rough matchups. With the cost of Lost Chapter going up, we don't want Seeker's Armguard to take that much longer to purchase in those rough matchups.
v6.3
Armor up. Build path includes an extra Cloth Armor.
For those looking for buffs to Zhonya's Hourglass, it should be clear we're not doing that. Given how game-warping Zhonya's active can be - and how powerful a deterrent it is against dudes who want to blow you up - we're pretty firm on gating this active with a fair combine cost. That said, Seeker's. Even when it's the right situation to buy Seeker's, it feels wrong, so that's where we're making changes. Mixing in an extra armor item makes it more effective when you're looking to counter physical damage (read: Zed) in lane.
