Rogue is a EMEA League of Legends esports team.
History[]
Rogue is an American organization best known for their Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Rainbow Six Siege teams. In 2018, the organization was rumored to be joining the EU LCS as part of the 2019 European franchise program.[1] On November 20, Riot Games confirmed Rogue as one of the ten partner teams for the LEC 2019 Spring Split.[2]
2019 Season[]
Rogue signed a roster containing of experienced players in Profit, Kikis, Sencux, HeaQ, and Wadid. After a horrible 0-8 start to the Spring Split they brought in rookie top laner Finn and veteran support VandeR from their academy team and picked up 2 wins in the next 3 weeks. Due to being out of playoff contention already Rogue gave up on the split and changed back to their original roster to have a more competitive roster on the academy squad for the rest of their split.
Going into Summer Split Rogue’s coaching staff showed trust in their academy team and promoted Inspired who finally got old enough and Larssen to the first team. They stayed in lower midfield for the first weeks of the season but after going 0-2 in week 6 the coaching staff decided to bench Profit and once again sub in young top laner Finn. In the last three weeks they also only went 3-3 but while the losses came against the top 3 they managed to beat the other three teams and ended up in 5th from a 4-way-tie due to Head-To-Head records. They were chosen by Splyce as their opponents as they were seen as more predictable but made them regret that decision ingame the next week as they came in well prepared and dominated Splyce in a fast 3-0 sweep. In Round 2 against Schalke they fought well but after a big throw at the end of game 3 the series turned around and they were beaten 1-3 which also meant that they were out of Worlds contention.
2020 Season[]
For the 2020 season Rogue upgraded their bot lane by picking up Hans Sama from Misfits and went into Spring Split looking to contest for Top 3. Despite having a good start at 3-1 they were still unable to take games off of the top teams while reliably beating the worse teams which netted them the 6th and last playoff slot at an even 9-9 record. After losing game 1 in Round 1 of the lower bracket against Misfits clearly they recovered well and dominated the rest of the series to face Origen in Round 2. This series went completely the opposite way with Rogue clearly winning game 1 but getting destroyed in games 2-4 for an unsatisfying early end to their split.
Trivia[]
- Rogue's 7-11 finish in LEC 2019 Summer is tied (with Team Vitality in the same split) for the fewest games won by a playoff team in an 18 game season.
- Their defeat of Splyce in the first round of the LEC 2019 Summer Playoffs also made this the fewest wins for a team that won a playoff series.
