Biography

Rafael "Rakin" Knittel was born in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. He lived in Switzerland for two years, and in Los Angeles, California in the United States. His first video game was Counter-Strike 1.5, which he started playing when he was seven years old. He also played Heroes of Newerth and was the captain of one of the top Brazilian teams prior to switching to League of Legends.

2014 Season

Rakin joined Call Gaming in May 2014, his first competitive League of Legends team. With them, he qualified for the Spring Expansion Tournament via the ranked 5's ladder but then was eliminated in the first round by Team Coast. On December 22, Call Gaming parted with their Expansion roster and Rakin left the team.^[20]

2015 Season

After leaving Call Gaming, Rakin formed Team Amine, which eventually competed in League One; partway through that tournament, the team renamed to Cerberus eSports. After a seventh-place League One finish, Cerberus entered the AlphaDraft Challenger League, and the roster was acquired by Noble eSports. On April 26, Rakin retired from competitive play in North America. In May, Rakin became a substitute for Counter Logic Gaming Black.

Trivia

The name "Rakin" comes from his first and last name - "Ra" from "Rafael" and "Kni" from "Knittel;" the 'n' and 'i' were swapped to make it pronounceable.
Has played competitively as mid laner and AD carry.
His most known catchphrase is "vem pro pai" (come to daddy), usually referenced in his username as VPP.
He created the Assimilação RPG, which is a tabletop RPG series played with invited guests by him. He plays the part of the DM and plays most non-playable characters. Invited guests include retired CBLOL player Revolta and former CBLOL caster Gustavo Docil.^[21]
Is also a very competitive player in MMORPGs, having achieved records and the top of leaderboards in various games, such as Diablo IV, where he was the first Brazilian player to achieve level 100 in hardcore mode,^[22] and the top 1 ranking in Path of Exile 2 during its early access.^[23]
In 2025, he gave an interview to Revolta talking for the first time about the 2019 4LaN Harassment Incident, making it public that the real reason he had left the League of Legends community was because of the hate he and his girlfriend received from part of the community who defended the aggressor in the case.^[24]
