RED Canids is a Brazilian team, created with the acquisition of INTZ Red. During the first split of 2018, the team competed under the name Red Canids Corinthians, as a result of a partnership with sports club SC Corinthians Paulista. Currently the team competes as RED Canids Kalunga, as part of a title sponsorship deal with Brazilian stationery store Kalunga.
History
2015/2016
In December 2015, it was announced that INTZ RED was acquired by a "group of investors", and renamed to RED Canids. After some news revealed that the team's owners were still related to INTZ, Riot ordered the INTZ organization to sell/transfer one of the teams, or it would lose its CBLOL 2016 Split 1 spot. Finally, before the start of the tournament, INTZ sold RED Canids to Brasil Mega Arena owner Felippe Corradini. The team finished the regular season in sixth place, with a score of 8 points, 2 wins, 2 ties and 3 losses. In playoffs, after losing to Operation Kino e-Sports and defeating paiN Gaming, they ended up in 5th place. For the second split, they decided to bring in Eryon, who would compete for the starting toplaner position with Ayel. Despite the change, they ended up in seventh place, barely making it to the playoffs. For the playoffs, they brought in Estonian toplaner beansu. The team ended up taking seventh place in the playoffs after winning the Relegation match against Big Gods, who was demoted to the BRCC 2017 Split 1.
2017
For 2017, RED Canids brought the lineup known as the "renegades": bringing Robo, Nappon, tockers, brTT, players who ended up leaving their teams after being replaced, and keeping Dioud, a player who remained from the previous lineup. They finished the first split in second place, only behind INTZ, with 16 points, 5 wins, 1 tie and 1 loss. With the return of YoDa as a alternating midlaner with tockers and Sacy as a substitute for brTT, they won their first title in 2017 after beating Keyd Stars in the finals by 3-0 and participated in MSI 2017, which was held in Brazil. With the help of Brokenshard as a temporary coach, they ended up second place in group stage, with a record of 4 wins and 2 loses, but not qualifying for the main stage. In 2017's second split, they brough the Portuguese Rhuckz as a substitute support for Dioud and Galfi as the new head coach for the team, finishing second place in regular season, but losing to Team oNe eSports by 3-2 in the playoffs.
2018
At the end of 2017, the team announced the departure of several players, such as Rhuckz, tockers, Robo and brTT. The surprise came with the announcement that two Korean players were joining the team, the jungler Winged and the midlaner Sky, in addition to the remaining of the jungler Nappon and botlaner Sacy, the joining of support Cabu and their new coach Icarus. They finished second in regular season, but they ended up losing to Keyd Stars by 3-2 and finishing third place in the playoffs. The second split of 2018 is often regarded as the lowest point in the team's history after Dioud and Nappon left and they hired the korean jungler Chaser to replace Winged. The team also rehired the coach Abaxial, who was part of the team two years before, and hired Coelho, a coach considered a newcomer to the scene. They ended up eight place, which ended up demoting the team to the Challenged Circuit.
2019
With their demotion to the Challenger Circuit, the team decided to bet on new and old players, bringing in rookies Guigo and Avenger, their old acquaintance YoDa and the veteran Revolta, which were led by the Canadian coach Nuddle after Coelho was moved to their academy team. They finished first place in the regular season, but finished third place after losing to Team oNe eSports by 3-1 in the playoffs, who was also demoted in the previous year. For the second split, the team welcomed TitaN, the botlaner from KaBuM! Esports who had already won 2 CBLOL titles and 1 BRCC with the orange team. Despite the player's entry, the team finished second in the regular phase and third in the playoffs, losing 3-0 to ProGaming Esports.
2020
For 2020, the team decided to aim higher, bringing in former teammate Ayel, as well as rookies Aegis, Grevthar and Woodboy. The gamble was a risky one, and by finishing fifth, they almost lost their spot in the Challenger Circuit. The second split of 2020 would be seen as one of the most importants of the team. With the toplaner Guigo and the support Cabu moving into the starting lineup, they finished first place in the regular season and won the playoffs by defeating Team oNe eSports by 3-1, promoting them to the CBLOL 2021 Split 1, unknown to them that their would be chosen for the new franchise format of CBLOL anyway. The team also participated in late 2020 in the only edition of the LLE 2020, promoted by a television channel, in which they won R$ 50.000 after defeating Vorax in the grand finals by 3-0.
2021
The first split of the new CBLOL had good results with the entrance of the new support, JoJo, and the team finished third place in the regular season. Despite a good start in the playoffs with a win by 3-1 against KaBuM! Esports, the team lost to Vorax by 3-1 and finished fourth place. The second split had worst results, finishing in sixth place and almost not qualifying for playoffs. With the entrance of Grevthar, who was moved to the academy team in the previous split, the team made a miracle run and won the title, qualifying for Worlds 2021. In Worlds 2021, the team started the Play-in Stage in group A facing and defeating the Costa Rican INFINITY. They afterwards faced the asian teams LNG Esports and Hanwha Life Esports, losing to both of them. They also faced the Australian team PEACE, who eventually defeated them both in the groups stage and in the tierbreakers, eliminating the team.
