Michael "Profound" Molecock is a retired League of Legends esports player, previously top laner for Avant Garde Redemption.
Biography[]
Michael "Profound" Molecock's first experience with a video game was SkiiFree, a reactionary game. He continued on to Civilization and Age of Empires and stuck with Age of Empires 3, in which he achieved a top global ranking. He was introduced to League of Legends through his friends at the end of Season 1. He enjoyed the social, mechanical, and competitive aspects of the game, which reminded him of chess, Age of Empires, and Counter-Strike. He initially played only support Gangplank and rushed Infinity Edge.
League of Legends Career[]
As Molecock grew more intrigued with League of Legends, he began a rigorously practicing, watching Korean POV's and playing on average 10 games a day. Being set on becoming the best Molecock climbed the ladder, eventually reaching Challenger on 3 different accounts. Determined to test his competitive skillset Molecock and his friends formed a team called "LanSquad2K12" with the same friends from school who had introduced him into the game.
LanSquad2K12 competed at a LAN within Brisbane where they placed 2nd. When the team disbanded, Profound and his former support player followed and were contracted to play for SYF Gaming. Shortly afterwards qualifying for ACL Sydney, SYF Gaming whent 1-1 in their group, placing 5th-8th. Molecock's impressive performances carrying his team throughout their 2nd game, he was invited to join Avant Garde
Although being invited to one of OCE's best teams at the time, Molecock was unable to find much success in the face of greater talent. This reportedly taken a toll and decreased match performance, social anxiety and caused tension within the team. After a disappointing 3rd place at King of the Rift in late 2013 and a sub-par performance at 2014 Oceanic Regional Winter Tournament the team slowly disbanded, with Molecock leaving in on the 8th of June, 2014.
