Biography[]

Tom "Optimus Tom" Searfoss is an American based League of Legends caster who currently resides in Northern California[1]. A long time DotA player, Tom entered the League of Legends immediately after the beta. Having background in Radio and Music Production, Tom quickly became accustomed to Streaming and production workflows which helped him secure jobs behind and in front of the camera. Tom was prevalent in casting during the League of Legends early Esports days, mostly working with IPL and MLG. In 2013, Tom began working for Riot Games and in 2016 was casting the LCS Challenger Series and CLOL. He has made appearances in Riot's World finals coverage, mostly in analytical segments.

Riot Games[]

In 2013, Tom began working at Riot Games New York office working with a group of other Broadcast Rioters on developing Broadcast Innovations, and began tracking EU and NA LCS Statistics. This would eventually evolve into an fully fledged Stats Team across the NY and Berlin offices. In 2016, Tom moved to Los Angeles and began working at the main Riot offices in Santa Monica, where he would work on PrimeTime League doing prep and the "Fantasy Minute" segment, cast the LCS Challenger Series, and host/cast the North American Collegiate Circuit while still working on the Stats Team. Tom poured significant effort into melding stats and story lines in both areas, and has pushed to get numbers into the community's hands via the Stats Dictionary[2] and popularizing the Lolesportsstats Twitter[3].

In 2020, Tom relocated to the Bay Area. At the start of 2022, Riot informed workers they would be having them return to the office - forcing Tom and Riot to part ways in March.
