Movistar R7 is a professional League of Legends team from Latin America. They are co-owned by the American toy company Just Toys. They were previously known as Rainbow7.
History[]
After being renamed, the 11 times champion of Latin America North at the time, continued to reign with an iron fist.
Despite the suspension of WhiteLotus that hindered their preparation for LLN Opening 2018 and their first Playoffs elimination in LLN Closing 2018, their mission to grow both within and outside their region remained intact. With this in mind, their actions at the international level had given them the prestige and respect from all the regions that were known as emerging.
After the departure of their famous roster, the organization adquired a new roster for the first LLA split. The roster counted with players from former rival Dash9 Gaming and other Latin American Teams. This roster included: Acce, Grell, Leza, Nobody, and Baula. This team reached the LLA Opening Finals, but lost against Isurus in a 3-1. After that, Grell and Baula left the team and Spooky and Tulz joined the team. The team reached playoffs but lost 3-0 against Infinity Esports. At the end of 2019 Tulz, Nobody, and Spooky left the team.
For 2020, the organization hired 2 former Furious Gaming players and 1 from Infinity Esports: Josedeodo, Shadow, and Renyu. This roster reached playoffs but were defeated again by Isurus in a 3-1. This led to Renyu's departure and Leza's roleswap from mid to bot, while Aloned also joined the team. Reaching playoffs, they defeated Azules Esports 3-2, then they had their revenge eliminating Isurus in a 3-1 and finally, won the finals reversweeping All Knights, winning 3-2 and classifying for the first time since 2017 to the World Championship.
As of 2024, they are the most decorated team in Latin America with 16 championships obtained, 10 of those as regional champions, and 6 as Latin American champions, during their history as Lyon Gaming, Rainbow7 and Movistar R7.[1]
