- The icon for the item prior to V3.14 has the Chinese/Japanese character for "demon/oni" (鬼; ki/oni) on the front cover.
- From 8.4, this item uses the icon of
Pox Arcana.- On the PBE for patch 8.4, this item was once renamed Morello's Cursed Tome, but it was reverted soon after.

Patch History[]
Ability power decreased.
Like Oblivion Orb above, we want to push Morellonomicon a bit further toward its unique identity. In this case, that identity is the magic damage Grievous Wounds item. If the enemy team doesn't have significant sources of healing or regen, finishing Morellonomicon should be less attractive than sitting on Oblivion Orb and building something else.
v8.4
Mana refund passive removed. Flat magic penetration added. Grievous Wounds now applies to targets at all health. Ability power decreased. Mana removed.
Morellonomicon was supposed to be the anti-healing item, but when it was also the best mana and AP item and present in every game, it forced us to make the item more about the stats and less about the unique output it provided.

v6.9
Gives mana instead of mana regeneration. Now restores mana on kill or assist.
For the duration of their existences, Morellonomicon and Athene’s Unholy Grail have had significant overlap, sharing three stats, two component items, and the same distinction of offensive mage items with best-in-slot mana regen. While they go about defining ‘offense’ in different ways
v6.2
COST DOWN?
Collateral buffs from our Frost Queen's Claim investigations. Specifically, it seems like we were overvaluing what those unique passives were doing for the item. Having cheaper alternatives should help with build diversity.
