Los Ratones is a European team created by Marc "Caedrel" Lamont. Despite its recent establishment, the team has rapidly gained prominence, achieving significant milestones in its inaugural competitive season.
History
The team was officially announced on November 15, 2024. Caedrel assembled a roster featuring seasoned veterans such as Martin "Rekkles" Larsson, Tim "Nemesis" Lipovšek and Juš "Crownie" Marušič, alongside soloqueue star Simon "Baus" Hofverberg and upcoming talent Veljko "Velja" Čamdžić. The objective was to bring the competitive experience of League of Legends esports closer to fans, reminiscent of the early seasons of the game. Caedrel committed to streaming most of the team's scrims, team meetings, and competitive games. He took on the role of head coach, with Molecule joining as an analyst.
Shortly after announcing the team, Los Ratones were invited to compete in the NNO Cup Season 2 competing aganist other teams of popular European streamers.
NNO Cup Season 2
The NNO Cup Season 2, organized by No Need Orga, commenced on November 27 and concluded with live finals on December 8, 2024. Despite Rekkles' absence due to personal commitments, the team debuted in the NNO Cup with Caedrel stepping in as the support player. They showcased a high skill level, adopting a late-game-oriented playstyle that emphasized superior macro strategies and teamfighting (compared to other streamer teams).
Los Ratones won the tournament undefeated, dropping only two games throughout the event. They secured victories against Kiedyś Miałem Fun (3-0), NNO Prime (3-1), French Flair (3-0). In the live grand finals they were once again victorious aganist 5 Pigs 1 Team (3-1) which led them to an undefeated run in the tournament, securing the championship title and a €10,000 grand prize. This early success showcased the team's potential and solidified excitement among their fanbase.
Red Bull League of Its Own event
A week after the NNO Cup, Los Ratones participated in the 2024 Red Bull League of Its Own event. The event featured prominent esports organizations, including T1 and G2 Esports. With Rekkles joining the roster after his tenure with T1 during their Worlds 2024 run, Los Ratones played a showmatch against T1 and secured a victory over the reigning world champions, further solidifying their reputation in the competitive scene.
NLC Winter 2025
On January 2, 2025, Los Ratones announced their participation in the UK's Northern League of Legends Championship (NLC) for the 2025 season. Despite the potential competitive disadvantage of streaming all scrims and revealing strategies, the team dominated the Winter Seeding group with an undefeated 4–0 series record. In the playoffs, they continued their impressive performance, defeating DMG Esports and Bulldog Esports with 2–0 victories, overcoming NORD Esports 3–1 in the upper-bracket final, and ultimately securing a 3–0 sweep against NORD Esports in the live arena finals on March 2. This triumph earned them their first domestic championship and qualification for the EMEA Masters 2025 Winter event.
EMEA Masters 2025 - Winter
As the NLC's sole representative in the Winter Split, Los Ratones were seeded into a four-team double elimination bracket group alongside Karmine Corp Blue, Nightbirds, and E WIE EINFACH E-SPORTS. They lost to Karmine Corp Blue in their first qualification match but won the second match against E WIE EINFACH E-SPORTS, moving to the quarterfinals alongside Karmine Corp Blue. In the quarterfinals they took on Papara SuperMassive and in a nail-biter 5-game series secured a very needed victory. In the semifinals, they achieved a 3–0 sweep against Team Phantasma, leading to their first EMEA Masters Finals appearance. In the finals, Los Ratones continued their dominant run with another 3–0 sweep against Ici Japon Corp, becoming the first UK-based organization to win the EMEA Masters title.
EMEA Masters 2025 - Spring
Interestingly, Los Ratones took a very similar road during the EMEA spring as they did during winter.
As the NLC's first seed representative, Los Ratones were seeded into a four-team double elimination bracket group alongside Kaufland Hangry Knights, Axolotl and Barça eSports. They lost to Barça eSports in their first qualification match but won the second match against Kaufland Hangry Knights, moving to the quarterfinals alongside Barça eSports. In the round of 16, they faced against NLC second seed and regional rivals NORD Esports and convincingly won 3-0. Similarly to the Winter EMEA, they took on Turkey's first seed, now BoostGate Esports, in the quarterfinals, and in a nail-biter 5-game series secured a very needed victory. In the semifinals, they achieved a 3–0 sweep against BK ROG Esports, leading to their second and back-to-back EMEA Masters Finals appearance. In the finals, Los Ratones continued their dominant run with another 3–0 sweep against Barça eSports, becoming the first UK-based organization to win the EMEA Masters title twice in a row.
