Biography

Season 3

Jang "Looper" Hyeong-seok joined MVP Ozone as a substitute for Homme in June of 2013. The team renamed themselves to Samsung Galaxy Ozone shortly after qualifying for the Season 3 World Championship. It was here that Looper made his competitive debut, impressing many with his favorite champion, Singed. Ozone tied Gambit Gaming for second in the group at 5-3 but they ended up losing the tiebreaker and missing the bracket stage.

2014 Season

Looper and Ozone played in PANDORA.TV Champions Winter 2013-2014 and made it all the way to the finals but were swept 3-0 by the undefeated SK Telecom T1 K. A few months later, they made it to the semifinals of HOT6iX Champions Spring 2014 but were upset by their sister team, Samsung Galaxy Blue. Ozone still placed third by beating CJ Entus Blaze 3-2 in the third place match. On June 11, Ozone renamed to Samsung Galaxy White. White performed similarly at HOT6iX Champions Summer 2014, losing 3-1 to Blue in the semifinals but beating SK Telecom T1 S 3-0 to end in third place. White was forced to play a circuit point tie breaker at the 2014 Season Korea Regional Finals against SKT K to decide who would automatically qualify for the 2014 Season World Championship. White dominated K, taking the series 3-0 to take their rightful place at Worlds. White was a huge favorite to win the tournament going into it and they didn't disappoint, only losing two games in the tournament and beating Star Horn Royal Club 3-1 in the finals to become the new world champions. On November 17, 2014, it was officially announced that all remaining members of Samsung White and Samsung Blue had left the organization.[13] Along with dade, Looper joined Team WE Academy on December 6, 2014.[14] LPL rules forced WE Academy to split from the Team WE organization to form Masters 3.

2015 Season

M3 competed in the 2015 Demacia Cup Spring Season and made it to the quarterfinals but they lost 3-0 to EDward Gaming. A few weeks later they ended in ninth place for the 2015 LPL Spring Regular Season, missing playoffs. M3 were forced to play in the 2015 LPL Summer Promotion where they requalified after beating Energy Pacemaker 3-0 in the semifinals. They participated in the 2015 Demacia Cup Summer Season, this time losing 3-0 in the round of 16 to Team WE. During the 2015 LPL Summer Regular Season, M3 placed eighth and qualified for the 2015 LPL Summer Playoffs but then lost in the first round 3-0 to OMG.

2016 Season

Looper left M3 to join Royal Never Give Up in December of 2015. Royal Never Give Up were invited to IEM Katowice in March 2016 where they finished first in their group beating both Origen and Ever. However, they were defeated 1 - 2 by Fnatic in the playoffs bracket, placing third along with Team Solo Mid. Despite the team’s growing pains, RNG asserted itself as a dominant force in China, winning the 2016 LPL spring split and finishing second during the summer. The team qualified to the World Championship and fell to SK Telecom T1 in the quarterfinals 3-1. After his contract ended, he left RNG to join Echo Fox.

2017 Season

Looper had a disappointing performance on Echo Fox, as the team finished with back-to-back eight-place finishes in the spring and summer splits with Looper having a 2.56 KDA during the spring split, and a 1.92 KDA during the summer split. Shortly after the summer split, Echo Fox's contract ended with Looper and Looper decided to retire to focus on his studies.
