The Professional Video Games League (Spanish: Liga de Videojuegos Profesional or LVP) is an esports events organizer founded in 2011, Spain.
History of LVP
The LVP was born as an idea of Sergi Mesonero and a group of friends, who were audiovisual professionals, to carry out events in the same way that ESL did but with Hispanics influence.
It was between 2009 and 2010 the incipient LVP began to organize and find founds and partners, until, in 2011, the LVP was formally launched.
In 2013, the first Gamergy was realized and three years later Fandroid and Mediapro allied with the purpose of making esports events in Spain something bigger, starting with the creation of a national league later known as the LVP SuperLiga.
In 2017, LVP and Riot Games Inc. allied for start to organizing events and tournaments in Latin America.
In 2018, it was announced that LVP and Riot Games Inc. would be in charge of the UK National Circuit, the LVP UKLC, for its 2019 Season.
In 2019, after the merge of the Copa Latinoamérica Sur and the Liga Latinoamérica Norte into a new continental tournament, the LVP unveiled the LATAM National Leagues, a group of domestic leagues established in some of the Latin American countries, working as a pathway for the biggest competitive league in the region, the LLA.
Following their creation, LVP's presence in Latin America has increased over the last few years, with the development of national tournaments for Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, and starting in 2022, the Caribbean and Central America regions.
For 2023, LVP is set to merge all Latin American national leagues into two new regional competitions, which will serve as their new development circuits and work as the new pathway for the LLA.
