Notability Guidelines

We can't have a page for literally everyone who has ever played a game of League of Legends -- or even for everyone who has played in a single prized tournament -- we simply cannot maintain that many pages, and most pages would never be visited. So in order to maintain quality within our wiki, we have a set of "notability guidelines" that we follow to determine whether a player (or team) gets a page. As a rule of thumb, if a player (or team) does not have a page already, they most likely do not meet our guidelines at the current time. Otherwise they would have a page already. For a more detailed overview on how to qualify for a page, please refer to the following guidelines.

Sitewide Guidelines[]

We Are Not A Resume Site[]

The guiding principle of these guidelines is simple: We are not a resume site. Resumes exist for the benefit of their subject; they are curated and owned by their subject, and few people other than their subject are interested in them. We are the opposite. We create and curate wiki pages for an audience primarily excluding their subjects. If you are asking for a wiki page to be made about yourself, the primary goal should not be to showcase your own achievements, but rather to inform other people about your career. We will judge the notability based on how interested we think the community is in learning about your accomplishments, and your goals of getting hired are not relevant.

For this reason, we implore teams and other organizations to not consider candidates' Leaguepedia pages when making hiring decisions. Doing so is disastrous for our editing staff.

Please keep in mind, however, that anyone is welcome to create a Self page.

Teams[]

A team must meet the following requirements to have a wiki page created:
  • Participation in a Premier event

Players[]

A player must meet at least one of the following requirements to have a wiki page created:
  • Has played in at least one game in a premier event
  • Is currently on the starting roster for a team that qualifies for a wiki page and is actively playing in a premier event
  • Is currently an official sub for a team that has a wiki page and is actively playing in a premier event in a premier region
  • If a player was previously a member of a team with a wiki page but did not participate in at least one premier event with that team (started in at least one game), they no longer qualify for a page, and we will not create one retroactively. However, we will not delete already-created pages (assuming they properly met notability guidelines at time of creation).

Support Staff[]

We will make pages for a coach who:
  • Is the primary coach for a premier team (top-level Riot circuit) in their region
  • We do not make pages for support staff that are not recognized officially by Riot except in extreme circumstances.

Region-Specific Guidelines[]

Please note that these guidelines are subject to change and cannot necessarily be applied retroactively. Futhermore, already existing pages for other people/orgs do not affect the notability of another entity. These are just guidelines, and the final decision is always up to the respective editor's discretion.
