The League of Legends Champions Festival was a special event organized by OGN for the 2014 edition of the KCON Korean music and entertainment festival, inviting two professional teams to compete alongside performances by Girls' Generation (SNSD), IU, B1A4, BTS (Bangtan Boys), CNBLUE, G-Dragon, Jung Joon-young, Spica, Teen Top, and VIXX.

Background[]

KCON was first conceived and held in 2012 in Los Angeles with the aim of establishing an annual flagship event that would improve the experiences of American K-Pop and Hallyu (Korean Wave) fans by providing them with an affordable way to connect with each other, as well as with artists and professionals from the K-Pop industry. Beginning in 2015, additional KCON events have been held in Saitama, New York, Jeju, Abu Dhabi, Chiba and Paris. Its organizers include its creators - K-Pop media company Koreaboo, CJ E&M and South Korean music label and entertainment agency Mnet America - and its producer, Powerhouse Live.

In 2014, OGN brought League of Legends to KCON for the first time by partnering with the event organizers to create the League of Legends Champions Festival, which featured CJ Entus Frost as guests and Locodoco as a caster. Aside from Q&A, autograph and photo sessions and special 5v5 friendly matches that allowed fans the chance to play against the CJ Frost players, official OGN Champions (LCK) merchandise was made available onsite and showmatches were set up when Cloud9 was also announced as guests.
