Biography[]
Season 2[]
Jeong "Impact" Eon-young started his career as a support for Xenics Storm. The roster qualified for the first OGN season, Azubu The Champions Spring 2012 and even made it to the semifinals. They ended in third place after losing 3-2 to MiG Frost but they beat Team OP 2-1 in the third place match. The team's top 4 placing secured them a round of 16 spot in Azubu The Champions Summer 2012. Xenics made it to the round of 8 again but dropped 2-0 to Azubu Blaze this time. Xenics was seeded into the second round of the Season 2 Korea Regional Finals but they lost 3-0 to NaJin Sword. Impact left the team in October of 2012 to join Tempest but rejoined after that team was picked up by the Xenics organization.
Season 3[]
Impact left the Xenics team in February of 2013 to join the brand new roster of SK Telecom T1 2 that featured bengi, Faker, Piglet, and PoohManDu. The team's first tournament together was OLYMPUS Champions Spring 2013 where the team found immediate success. They placed third after losing 3-1 to MVP Ozone but they beat CJ Entus Frost 3-0 in the third place match. SKT1 2's sister team, SK Telecom T1 1 was dropped from the organization so Impact's team was renamed to just SK Telecom T1. Next, they attended HOT6iX Champions Summer 2013, this time managing to qualify for the finals. They were pitted against the KT Rolster Bullets and even went down 2-0 initially in the set but they managed to bring it back and win the tournament with a 3-2 victory. This win earned them enough circuit points to qualify for the Season 3 Korea Regional Finals. They were automatically seeded into the finals where they faced the Bullets once again, this time taking them down 3-1 to qualify for the Season 3 World Championship as the third seed from Korea. SKT went 7-1 in their group, only dropping a game to OMG and was put against the Gamania Bears in the quarterfinals. They quickly dispatched the bears 2-0 and then went onto play a close set against NaJin Black Sword that they eventually won 3-2. The finals saw SKT playing against the Chinese Royal Club. Royal was no match for SKT and the set ended with a quick 3-0 and the crowning of SK Telecom as the Season 3 World Champions. A month later, the team was renamed to SK Telecom T1 K.
2014 Season[]
SK Telecom continued their streak of domination at PANDORA.TV Champions Winter 2013-2014. In an unprecedented show of strength, SKT managed to sweep the entirety of the tournament, culminating in a 3-0 victory over Samsung Galaxy Ozone. This is widely considered to be the most impressive feat achieved by any team as OGN is thought to have the highest level of competition in League of Legends. However, HOT6iX Champions Spring 2014 began the steady decline of SKT K as a team. They were upset in the group stages by the KT Rolster Arrows and barely scraped through to playoffs. They then met Samsung Ozone in the quarterfinals and were swiftly beaten 3-1. Due to having the most circuit points in Korea, they were invited to participate in All-Star Paris 2014. After winning 6 games in a row, they 3-0'd OMG to take the tournament without dropping a game. They came back to Korea for HOT6iX Champions Summer 2014 but fell in the quarterfinals again with a 3-1 loss to Samsung White. SKT was forced to play a tiebreaker against Samsung White to determine who would go to the 2014 Season World Championship as the second seed from Korea. White was too strong for SKT, quickly sweeping them 3-0. SKT was knocked into the finals of the gauntlet where they faced a red hot NaJin White Shield that took out the former World Champions 3-1.
2015 Season[]
Changes to the OGN rules forced SKT K and SKT S to merge to form SK Telecom T1 in early December of 2014. Two weeks later, Impact left the team to join Team Impulse as their top laner. After using Rhux as a substitute for Impact in the first week, Team Impulse finished the round robin with an 11-7 record, in fourth place. In the playoffs, they defeated Gravity before losing to Team SoloMid and then Team Liquid, placing fourth overall. In the summer season, Team Impulse started shakily, placing no higher than sixth through the end of the fifth week. Starting in the sixth week, the team went on a massive winning streak, which was almost able to continue through two roster changes: first, Adrian sat out one game and was replaced by Gate; and second, XiaoWeiXiao was suspended pending an investigation into Elo boosting prior to the ninth week, prompting Adrian to return and Gate to move back to his primary role of mid lane to replace XiaoWeiXiao. This temporary suspension was eventually lengthened to a competitive ban until February 2016. Regardless, Team Impulse finished the last week tied for third place with Gravity and then won their tiebreaker game.
In the summer playoffs, the team beat Dignitas 3-0 before losing to both Counter Logic Gaming and Team Liquid to finish fourth, leaving them with the second-place spot in the Regional Final due to Championship Points. There, they became the second team in a row to fall to underdogs Cloud9 in a reverse sweep and so fell short of the World Championship.
2016 Season[]
Impact left Team Impulse in November to join the new LCS team NRG eSports, as their top laner. NRG started the LCS strong, tied for either first or second place through the first four weeks, but after the fifth week they fell down to fifth place and remained there for the rest of the season. They were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. After the conclusion of the split, Impact left NRG and joined Cloud9.[31]
In the Regular Season, Cloud9 achieved a 12-6 series record and a third-place finish, with Impact primarily playing top lane tanks including Trundle, Shen, and Maokai. In the Playoffs, Cloud9 defeated Team EnVyUs and Immortals before falling to TSM 3-1 in the finals; their second-place result was their best placement since Spring 2015. In the Regional Finals, or the gauntlet, Cloud9 faced and defeated both EnVyUs and Immortals to qualify for the World Championship for the fourth consecutive year; their success in both the playoffs and gauntlet was attributed in large part to Impact's play, especially on Gnar.
At Worlds, C9 was put in Group along with SK Telecom T1, I May and Flash Wolves. Despite not being expected by many to make it out of the group, C9 finished 2nd in the group. Their Worlds run was cut short though after they lost 0-3 to Samsung Galaxy in the Quarterfinals.
2017 Season[]
The 2017 Spring Season of the NA LCS started off hot for C9. The team was dominant and in 1st place throughout most of the split. However their performance took a dip later on and they finished 2nd with a 14-4 record right behind TSM. In the playoffs it was a similar story as Cloud9 made it to the finals but lost 2-3 to Team SoloMid in a very close series. In the Summer Season with increased competition, Cloud9 struggled more than before and finished the regular split in 4th place. Their performance in the playoffs was very lackluster and their run was cut short with a 1-3 loss to Team Dignitas in the Quarterfinals. Going into the Regional Qualifiers, the team managed to qualify for the 2017 Season World Championship with a 3-1 win over CLG.
At Worlds C9 finished first in their Play-In group with a 4-0 record and then defeated Lyon Gaming 3-0 to advance to the Main Event. Put in Group A along with SK Telecom T1, EDward Gaming and ahq e-Sports Club, C9 managed a 3-3 record and made it out of the group in second place. Their Worlds run was put to a halt however after they lost 2-3 to Team WE in a very close match. Impact left C9 in November of 2017 and joined Team Liquid.
