IEM Season IX - Cologne is the fourth event of IEM Season IX (third with LoL involved), organized by ESL. It took place in Cologne, Germany.
Overview[]
The event will be cast by Brandon "Saintvicious" DiMarco, Leigh "Deman" Smith, Joe Miller, Martin "Deficio" Lynge, Mitch "Krepo" Voorspoels, and Marcel "Dexter" Feldkamp. Eefje "sjokz" Deporteere will be the host.[1]
Format[]
- Six teams:
- 2 EU LCS Teams (1 fanvote & 1 invited)
- 2 NA LCS Teams (2 fanvote)
- Teams competing at IEM San Jose are excluded from participating
- 1 CIS team from qualifier
- 1 Turkish team from qualifier

- Team Curse who were the #1 NA fanvote had to decline due to visa issues and the departure of Voyboy.[2] Team Dignitas took their place.[3]
- Fnatic who were the first invited team had to decline the invite.[4] Team ROCCAT took their place.[5]
- Xmithie was unable to attend due to visa issues, and so Thinkcard took his place for Counter Logic Gaming.[6]
- Moscow Five won't be able to attend due to visa issues.[7] They are replaced by Dolphins of Wall Street.[8]
