In the beginning of 2017, it was announced that the partnership between IDM Gaming and KaBuM! e-Sports was dropped, due to contract disputes within the Facebook group Ilha da Macacada, as one of its admins, Doug, who was the legal owner of IDM's BRCC spot, was removed from the admin team and didn't take part in negotiations with KaBuM. Due to that, IDM Gaming lost both CBLOL and BRCC spots, as KaBuM kept their CBLOL spot, and Doug took the BRCC spot he legally owned.
Doug then partnered with Pirates Gaming, which provided the roster for BRCC 2017 Split 1, forming the new team that became known as IDM Pirata.
