Biography[]
Shin "Helios" Dong-jin started his gaming life at the age of 10 when his family got their first computer. At the age of 12 he started playing the game Ragnarok, he continued to play for 6 years. After that he started playing Warcraft. He became very good at Warcraft and at one point made one of his friends cry by killing him over and over again. He felt so bad after that he almost gave up gaming all together, until finding the game Chaos where his skills with the game developed as well as his passion for competition. Later on his brother introduced him to League of Legends. He started with champions Blitzcrank and Evelynn. After seeing WCG picked up League of Legends, he knew it would be big and decided then to become a professional gamer. He later met Lustboy and Cpt Jack and joined MiG.
Season 2[]
Helios joined the original MiG Blaze in November of 2011 alongside Lustboy, Cpt Jack, Ambition, and Reapered. They played in the very first OGN tournament, Azubu The Champions Spring 2012 where they made it to the finals and upset their sister team, MiG Frost, 3-0. After the tournament, both teams were picked up by Azubu and renamed Azubu Blaze and Azubu Frost, respectively. They then attended Azubu The Champions Summer 2012 where they placed fourth after losing 3-2 to Frost in the semifinals and 2-0 to NaJin Sword in the third-place match. Blaze earned enough circuit points to qualify for the Season 2 Korea Regional Finals. Blaze auto-qualified for the finals but lost 3-2 to Sword and didn't make it to the Season 2 World Championship. Blaze traveled to America to compete in the 2012 MLG Fall Championship with Shy as their sub for top lane. They took first in the tournament, beating Sword in two sets, 2-1 and 2-0. Blaze then went to IPL 5 and placed 7th-8th after losing 2-1 to Moscow 5 in the loser's bracket.
Season 3[]
Blaze's first tournament of the new year was IEM Katowice and they made it to the finals but lost 2-0 to Gambit Gaming. Their time at OLYMPUS Champions Winter 2012-2013 ended just a few days later when they lost two straight 3-2 sets to Frost and then lost 3-0 to KT Rolster B in the third-place match to ultimately finish fourth. Shortly after, Blaze and Frost left the organization and were picked up by CJ Entus. The teams became CJ Entus Blaze and CJ Entus Frost. Next, Blaze went to the IEM Season VII - World Championship where they beat Frost 3-1 to take the tournament. They came back to Korea for OLYMPUS Champions Spring 2013 and made it all the way to the finals. They went into the match against MVP Ozone as the favorites but they shockingly lost 3-0 in what became one of the biggest upsets in League of Legends' history. They came into HOT6iX Champions Summer 2013 with high hopes but dropped out in the quarterfinals 3-2 against the KT Rolster Bullets. Blaze acquired enough circuit points to qualify for the Season 3 Korea Regional Finals and lost in the first round 3-0 to the Bullets. On October 5, Helios was moved to Frost as their new starting jungler. He played his first tournament with the team at IEM Singapore but they lost in the finals 2-0 to Invictus Gaming.
2014 Season[]
At the first OGN of the new season, PANDORA.TV Champions Winter 2013-2014, Frost qualified for the playoffs but lost 3-0 to Samsung Ozone. Helios left the team a few weeks later to join NaJin Black Sword. He played with them at HOT6iX Champions Spring 2014 but the team couldn't make it past groups and he was dropped from the roster shortly after. Helios left Korea mid-season to join Evil Geniuses.NA to play in the NA LCS Summer Split. The team, however, finished the regular season in seventh place, finishing with just one win more than compLexity, with an 11-17 record after a 4-0 final week. This meant that they would play in the Spring Promotion, facing Team Coast, who were playing with last-minute Korean additions Miracle and Ringer in the solo lanes. EG won 3-0 and took their a spot in the 2015 LCS Spring Split.
2015 Season[]
Helios stayed with the team when they rebranded as Winterfox in January 2015; however, due to issues with his visa, he began to play with the team for the second week of the Spring Split, replaced by ShorterACE for the first week. Though Helios himself stayed with the team for the rest of the split, Winterfox underwent multiple roster substitutions in their bot lane during the split. They finished in eighth place with a 7-11 record, forced into Summer Promotion. Given the choice between playing against Team Dragon Knights and Team Fusion, Winterfox chose the former, despite their higher placement in the NA CS Spring Playoffs. Due to starting mid laner Kyle leaving the team prior to the tournament, TDK started Alex Ich in the mid lane, and Winterfox lost the series 1-3, sending them to the NA CS Summer Split.
Helios left the team soon after, joining Team Dignitas after Week 2 of the LCS Summer Split, replacing Azingy. Despite being tied for first with a 7-2 record after 4.5 weeks of play in the summer split (halfway through), the team struggled throughout the last half and finished sixth at 10-8. In the quarterfinals of the summer playoffs, Dignitas was swept by Team Impulse and finished 2015 with only 20 Championship Points, not enough to qualify for the regional finals. Helios left Dignitas in November.
