Patch History
While very popular and the current poster child of frustrating tank items, we don't believe Heartsteel is actually quite as powerful as its reputation may suggest. The nerf here is meant to be fairly small as a result. That said, the high-end snowball cases for this item can get out of hand, so we're specifically going after the best-case scenarios where it gains over 1000 bonus HP and feeds into all the other HP scaling.
- Colossal Consumption Max Health: 10% of damage ⇒ 8% of damage
We're making several item changes aimed at specifically serving a class of health-stacking tanks, targeting Heartsteel, Unending Despair, and Warmog's Armor. For Heartsteel, we're reintroducing its synergy with kit-driven health increases to be nicer on champions like Sion.
- Colossal Consumption Damage: 80 + 12% bonus health from items ⇒ 70 + 3% of maximum health
- Colossal Consumption Bonus Health: 12% ⇒ 10% of damage dealt by Colossal Consumption is gained as maximum health
- Recipe: Giant's Belt + Crystalline Bracer + Ruby Crystal + 900 Gold ⇒ Giant's Belt + Crystalline Bracer + Giant's Belt + 400 Gold
- Health Regen: 200% ⇒ 100%
Heartsteel currently isn't worth purchasing on many champions, even those with respectable health ratios or easy access to the gameplay pattern this item is built to support. In this patch we'll be buffing the item's scaling while keeping the early game similar to let players live their best bonking fantasy. (Note: the tooltip in 14.5 will not reflect this change, but we're working on having it corrected in 14.6.)

- Heartsteel isn’t performing well, even on its best users, when picked up as a first item. More health should help it have some more immediate impact and also help it scale a bit faster.

- Passive - Goliath: For each 100 maximum health, gain 3% increased size, up to 30%.

Grow into a goliath that towers over foes and pummels the opposition.
