Hanwha Life Esports is a Korean team owned by Hanwha Life Insurance Co., Ltd..
History[edit]
On 15th April 2018, Hanwha Life Esports acquired the roster and LCK slot from ROX Tigers.
2018 Season[edit]
Hanwha's Summer Split went about as it could be expected from the roster that finished with an even record in 6th place during Spring Split but they once again barely missed out on playoff participation because they had a worse game score than Afreeca and due to also missing the championship points for Regional Finals their season ended early.
For the 2018 LoL KeSPA Cup they already used their new roster and were placed in the first round where they faced the amateur team Seoul and surprisingly lost the series 1-2.
2019 Season[edit]
Going into the 2019 Season HLE replaced Lindarang and SeongHwan with Thal from SK Telecom T1 and Bono from relegated bbq Olivers. They also picked up Tempt from bbq and Moojin from Flash Wolves as substitutes for midlane and jungle, respectively. After another consistent Spring Split they ended up losing out on playoff participation by losing 4 of their 5 last series which were all against the top teams of the league.
HLE continued with the same 7-man roster for Summer Split but due to the resurgence of Afreeca and Gen.G they fell to the bottom of the standings alongside SKT and Jin Air. After five weeks of play the coaching staff decided to sub in Tempt in the mid lane and to mostly stick with SoHwan and bonO in top and jungle. This brought them some quick success and after two surprising upsets against SKT and Damwon, it looked like they had managed to avoid dropping into the promotion tournament. This was until on the last week KT upset KZ before HLE lost their match against Sandbox 1-2 which meant 9th place in the regular season and fighting for the spot. In the promotion tournament, they lost 1-2 against APK Prince in Round 1 but secured themselves a chance at remaining in LCK by beating Team Dynamics 3-1 in Elimination Match. In the second Qualifying Match they faced Jin Air to determine which team stays in LCK and like in regular season HLE showed that they are a superior team and clean swept the series which relegated Jin Air to Challenger Scene.
Following the worst split they rebuilt their roster around mid laners Tempt and Lava. After they first announced head coach Kezman and coach NoFe they followed this up a few weeks later with the signings of CuVee from Gen.G, SKT substitute jungler Haru, former KT bot laner Zenit and support players Lehends from Griffin and Vsta from Brion Blade.
2020 Season[edit]
For 2019 LoL KeSPA Cup they played with Lava as bot laner and managed to reach quarterfinals by sweeping challenger team ESports Connected and KT Rolster. There were beaten 1-2 in a series with very one-sided games.
Going into LCK Spring Split Vsta had swapped from support to bot laner and they had a good first match in which they managed to beat T1 but lost to Afreeca after that. Following another two 1-1 weeks with losses to the top teams they dropped off losing series they should be able to win and ended the first half at 3-6 in 7th place. Following a break due to the 2019–20 Coronavirus Pandemic they managed to upset both DragonX and Gen.G but lost most of their matches against their direct competition and only barely avoided having to play another relegation tournament.
Following this split Tempt left the team.
