Notes[]
- The quest reward can only be obtained after being out-of-combat for 5 seconds.
- If you damage an enemy champion or structure 3 times every 30 seconds, Tribute grants 15 gold per 10 seconds.
- Plus 2 gold per 10 seconds from the item, you can receive a total of 17 gold per 10 seconds.
- Area of effect abilities will use one charge per enemy champion hit.
- On-hit effects will not trigger Tribute (although the triggering attack can).
- Damage over time abilities will trigger the passive once per instance of damage.
- Killing a minion and damaging an enemy at the same time will put Tribute on cooldown without activating.

Face of the Mountain
The whole point of the lockout on Spellthief’s Edge is to prevent champions from both farming waves and using the gold item - at least without some tradeoff. However, it was also punishing supports too harshly when they happened to kill a minion while poking. We’re shifting the mechanic so that minion kills may harm your overall Tribute output, but won’t stop you from using any Tribute stacks you already had.
Tribute passive
Most mage supports already churn out pretty decent damage (looking at you, Zyra/Brand), so rather than give them more damage as a quest reward, we wanted to give them something that feels distinct from the mid lane experience. Extra mobility gives them a tool to dance in and out of fights, giving them a unique reason to be played as supports, rather than mid laners.

v6.13
Killing pets no longer puts Tribute on cooldown.
Spellthief’s Edge offers you a tradeoff: don’t farm and you can build up gold by trading with your opponents. Much like with Relic Shield, pets were disrupting Spellthief’s tradeoff as well.
v6.9
Less mana regeneration.

v6.2
Who you gonna call?
Making the Rift a less spooky place, one patch at a time. The short context here is we initially dumped all of our investigation eggs into the Frost Queen's Claim basket, but have since expanded to the two item cost reductions below. Raising the cooldown, however, encourages more careful use of the active rather than "yes."
v6.1
Less mana regen. Slow now scales with distance.
Ah, Frost Queen's Claim. Even if you've never bought it, you've seen it - and the army of ghosts slowing you from across the universe. While potent as a form of vision control and a playmaker for spellcasting supports, this raw stat efficiency combined with crowd control made it far more ubiquitous than is healthy (when you start to see champions like Tank Maokai buying this, you know something's up). Cutting FQC's efficiency and impairing its use as a close-range sticking/peeling tool requires more pre-meditation on the part of it's user to get the same level of crowd control. We'll continue assessing if we need to tone down that spooky.
