Flamengo Esports is a Brazilian team, the esports division of traditional sports team CR Flamengo.
Following the partial CBLOL's spot franchise acquisition by Los Grandes in 2022 they had to rename to Flamengo Los Grandes due to Riot rules and aftermost with the full acquisition to Los Grandes.
Flamengo Esports returned to the scene in late 2023 with a new management company, Medellin, which also manages other rosters in the team, including Free Fire and CS2.
For Flamengo MDL, see Flamengo MDL.
History[]
Flamengo Esports team was created on late 2017 as a branch of the traditional football club CR Flamengo. Initial roster included Jisu, SirT, Evrot, BrTT and EsA, and made its first appearance on BRCC 2018 Split 1. As runner-ups, they classified for the Access Series and made it to brazil's first division by winning over Team oNe eSports. The Esports team inherited lots of supporters from its football club, and its initial investment was frequently recognized by CBLOL's casters as a big step up for Esports in Brazil.
During 2020 and until the merge with Los Grandes, Flamengo Esports operations were managed by Simplicity Esports.
Flamengo Esports returned to the competitive League scene in October 2023 to play the Multiplatform eSports Games (MEG) League Championship after a rebranding and a new management company managing the team's operations, Medellin, with a roster of old players from the Brazilian scene and from the CBLOL 2019 2nd Split winning team, including Goku and Absolut. [1]
Flamengo players and supporters often refer to themselves as "nação rubro-negra" (red-and-black nation).
