ESUG UFF (E-Sport Union Göttingen Ultimate Five Feeders) is a German League of Legends team. It is based in the city of Göttingen and due to the format of the German university league every member of the team has to be a student in Göttingen. Almost all study at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, but there have been students of the PFH-Göttingen too.
History[]
ESUG stands for the E-Sport University Göttingen. Its teams compete in several e-sports such as CS:GO, Rocket League, and Overwatch. The League of Legends team was founded to take part in University eSport Germany (UEG) tournaments. UFF has sister teams with similar names competing for spots in the first and second division. UFF regularly participates in smaller tournaments, as well as the SINN-League, until in its place the Premier Tour was implemented as of September 2019.
UFF qualified to the UEG via the Wildcard Tournament in winter 2017 and finished 3rd in the winter season playoffs of 2018, falling to Bremen Rolandoni. In the season of summer 2019 they finished 4th losing to Hannover Hounds in a close, but not so clean best of five series. UFFs roster of Summer 2019 was known for a rather chaotic playstyle which miraculously became coordinated in teamfights or in later stages of the game. As they had a flexible roster, UFF oftentimes fielded substitutes depending on the importance of games, but also, as all members are university students, on who was available at the time. As key-players of that iteration were regarded Bot Laner Sayna and Keule183. The prior being consistent and by some regarded as the best Bot Laner at the tournament[1], and the latter who, while having a hyper aggressive playstyle, acted as one of the primary shotcallers. Games would oftentimes be decided on whether they would make crucial mistakes such as overstaying or overcommitting. If not, it was not unlikely for them to close out games at the 25 minute mark.
During the UEG Winter Season 2019 UFF finished second in the first division and went on to face the Hanover Hounds in playoffs. They won the first match, threw the second, and went on losing the third and forth match, eliminating them from playoffs. This was the last UEG tournament where their jungler Keule183 would be able to participate.
