DRX is a Korean League of Legends esports team. They were previously known as Kingzone DragonX and DragonX.
History[]
Prior to the 2020 Season, Kingzone DragonX renamed to DragonX.
2019 Season[]
On November 4th DragonX announced former Griffin coach cvMax as new head coach. In the following weeks Rascal, Cuzz, Naehyun and TusiN left the team. At the start of december former Griffin top lane substitute Doran and mid laner Chovy signed their contracts while trainees Pyosik and Keria were promoted to the starting roster. With cvMax and this young roster lead by Deft's experience many people were excited about what they would be able to achieve.
2020 Season[]
Their first test was 2019 LoL KeSPA Cup in which they swept local team Chungnam, Challenger team Spear Gaming and even Worlds quarterfinalist DAMWON Gaming. Their run came to an end when they faced Afreeca Freecs with their upgraded roster in semifinals and this time got swept themselves.
Using their time before the start of Spring Split well they managed to start off 4-0 in the first two weeks before falling to top teams T1 and Gen.G in week 3. They finished the first half of the split off with another 3 2-0 victories before the league had to take a break due to the 2019–20 Coronavirus Pandemic. When the league continued a few weeks later with online play they were upset by HLE and swept by T1 before getting back on track to finish the Regular Season with 7 victories including a 2-0 over first placed Gen.G. Due to dropping several games in "easy" matches they lost out on second seed to T1 which meant that they had to start playoffs as third seed in Round 1. In this match against Damwon they dominated games 1 and 2 but lost game 3 convincingly and game 4 to a backdoor before smashing their opponents in game 5 to face T1 in semifinals. This time they clearly lost games 1 and 2 before slowly bleeding out T1 with a poke comp in game 3 but ultimately lost the series in game 4 vs the eventual champion.
