Biography[]
David "Cop" Roberson is originally from Jacksonville, Florida in the USA. Cop got his start when a player named Vixerox introduced him to Entheomancer who subbed with Cop in Oh God Bears before joining a start-up team called TeamSF. After leaving TeamSF, Cop spent time as a sub for multiple teams, including unRestricted, v8 Esports, and Blight Gaming before finally joining Curse Gaming.
Season 2[]
On December 20 Cop stepped into the starting roster of Team Curse in the role of AD Carry. He played his first major tournaments with Curse at IEM Kiev and IEM Hanover on January 22 and March 10. At IEM Kiev the team went 1-3 in the group stage, defeating White Lotus but losing to SK Gaming and Team SoloMid.[31] At Hanover, Curse went 2-3 in groups and advanced to the quarterfinals but then lost 2-0 to CLG.[32][33] In April 2012 at IPL 4, the team once again placed 5th/6th, defeating Epik Gamer 2-0 in round one, but losing to Team SoloMid 2-0 in the second round and then finally eliminated by Monomaniac 2-1 in the loser's bracket.
In May Curse underwent roster changes setting the roster of Cop, Nyjacky, Elementz, Saintvicious and Westrice for theMLG 2012 - Spring Championship, where the newly reformed team was able to place 7th/8th. On August 26, Curse won the 2012 MLG Pro Circuit/Summer/Championship, beating Dignitas in the best of 5 finals 3-2. However, both teams were disqualified by MLG and Riot for violating MLG's Official Pro Circuit Conduct Rules: "competitors may not intentionally Forfeit a Game or conspire to manipulate Rankings or Brackets." No prize money or circuit points were awarded to either teams.[34][35]
On August 20, Curse would compete in the North American Regional Season 2 World Championship Qualifier, but failed to qualify, placing 4th, losing to Counter Logic Gaming in the third-place match.
Season 3[]
Cop with Curse started off the Spring Season of the NA LCS Spring Season strong. They didn't drop a single game, up until week 4, when they lost their first game to Dignitas. Despite that loss, and having a rough rest of the season, Curse still finished 2nd, securing their spot in the Spring Playoffs along with their spot in the Summer Season of the NA LCS. Despite having a roster change right before the Playoffs, Curse went on to place 4th in the Spring Playoffs.
On the eve of the Summer Season, Team Curse announced the huge news that they would be filling their support role by EU ex-Gambit Gaming member Edward, who was the EU LCS All Star at the time. Despite the huge roster acquisition, Curse had a shaky Summer season, fighting hard to stay in the middle of the pack. They ended the season 13-15 in a 4th spot place going into NA LCS Summer Playoffs. They first faced off against Team Dignitas and winning their first game in a dominating fashion, although losing the consecutive 2 games, therefore having to play CLG for the 5th spot decider. Curse was unable to best CLG in the set losing 0-2, and were sent to relegation to play for their spot back in the Season 4 Spring Promotion.
2014 Preseason[]
In October 2013, it would be announced Team Curse would change its roster in a major way after disappointing results at the end of Season 3. Cop would move to a sub position while also joining the Team LoLPro roster. However, by October 14, Cop had returned to the main roster of Team Curse.
2014 Season[]
Curse's starting roster for the Spring split consisted of Cop, Quas, IWDominate, Voyboy, and Zekent. During the split Saintvicious, and later Bunny FuFuu would play support. Curse finished the split in fifth place, behind Team Dignitas and ahead of Team Coast, ending up passing Dignitas in the playoffs to end the season in fourth place.
The roster that played in the LCS Summer Split was Cop, Quas, IWDominate, Voyboy, and Xpecial. Curse finished fourth in both the regular season and the Playoffs after beating Counter Logic Gaming in the quarterfinals and going on to lose to both Cloud9 and LMQ.
On September 19, after the summer LCS was over, Cop was removed from the starting roster of Team Curse and moved to become the AD Carry for Curse Academy.
2015 Preseason[]
Cop joined Curse Academy on September 27, 2014, replacing Impactful.[36][37]
The team had been given a seed into the Spring Expansion tournament as a result of their participation in the Promotion Tournament. With a roster of Hauntzer, Saintvicious, Keane, Cop, and Bunny FuFuu, they beat compLexity.White 2-0 in the online stage and then advanced to the offline tournament, where they defeated Coast 3-1 and then Team Fusion 3-1, qualifying for the spring season. However, due to the one-team-per-organization rule, the roster was sold and became known as Gravity.
2015 Season[]
Gravity finished the spring round robin with a 10-8 record in fifth place. In the quarterfinals, they lost 1-3 to Team Impulse and earned 10 Championship Points for the season. After the conclusion of the split, Cop stepped down from the starting roster of the team and moved to a coaching role; he was replaced by Altec.[38] Upon stepping down, he stated that he had been considering retiring from professional play for over six months prior.[39]
After being first place in weeks 7 and 8, Gravity ended the Summer Season in 4th place after a tiebreaker loss against Team Impulse. In the playoffs, Cop and Gravity lost their quarterfinal against Team SoloMid, leaving them with a year-long total of 30 Championship Points, and qualifying for the regional finals in fifth place. They lost immediately in the gauntlet after winning the first two games, getting reverse swept by Cloud9, who went on to qualify to Worlds.
On December 18, Gravity sold its LCS slot to new team Echo Fox and disbanded.[40]
2016 Season[]
Ahead of the NA LCS Spring Split, it was announced that Cop would be the head coach for Echo Fox, staying with the former Gravity spot.[41] Cop left the team part way through the Summer Split.[42]
