Biography[]
Closer began competing competitively in the 2017 season, where he played in the TPL on Team Vulture and Beşiktaş Esports. Although he failed to qualify for the TCL both splits, he established himself as a prominent Turkish prospect.
2018 Season[]
In the middle of the 2018 season, Closer joined Royal Bandits, where he played alongside past and future LCS and LEC stars such as Broken Blade, Abbedagge, and Freeze. Although the impressive roster finished first in the regular season, it fell short in playoffs, losing to SuperMassive Esports in the finals.
2019 Season[]
Royal Bandits rebranded to Royal Youth. Closer and perennial Turkish star Dumbledoge were the only players who remained on the roster from the previous year after Broken Blade and Abbedagge were recruited by first division major region teams. Replacing Broken Blade was Armut, another future LEC star, as well as ex-LCK players GBM and Pilot. After a mediocre winter split, GBM was replaced with Cyeol and Dumbledoge with Tolerant. The team dominated the summer split, going 16-2 in the regular season and defeating SuperMassive to earn a spot at Worlds 2019; Closer was named the split MVP. In the Worlds Play-In stage, Royal Youth was eliminated in a knockout match by Clutch Gaming, ending Closer's season.
2020 Season[]
Like his ex-teammate Broken Blade, Closer was recruited to join an LCS team and play in North America. He joined Golden Guardians at the beginning of the 2020 season, playing alongside a roster of of relatively unknown players like FBI and veterans Hauntzer, Goldenglue, and Keith, the latter of whom role-swapped from bot laner to support. Many analysts projected Golden Guardians to finish near the bottom of the standings, and fans were not optimistic about the team's prospects. However, after replacing Keith with huhi, the team managed a respectable 8-10 record and squeaked into the spring playoffs. Closer was generally considered the driving factor behind the team's success, even being voted 2nd All-Pro Team despite being on a sixth-place roster. With a mid-season substitution of Damonte for Goldenglue, Golden Guardians became a contender in summer. Led by Closer's aggressive jungle performances on Nidalee, the team not only reached playoffs again, but upset TSM in the first round. After losing to Team Liquid in the upper bracket, Golden Guardians faced TSM again in an elimination round. Closer faced off against his ex-teammate Broken Blade, and although the series went to five games, Golden Guardians lost. TSM would go on to win the entire split, leading many commentators to believe that Golden Guardians was one of the top North American teams and Closer one of its top players.
2021 Season[]
Due to financial difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Golden Guardians sold almost its entire roster to 100 Thieves. With Hauntzer replaced by 100 Thieves' star top laner Ssumday, the team was projected to build on its 2020 success and contest for the LCS championship. Although the team started off strongly in spring, it started to flounder near the end of the split, and after struggles in the mid lane finished 4th in playoffs. In summer, the team imported Closer's ex-teammate Abbedagge and brought in Reapered as the coach. The substitutions shored up 100 Thieves' weaknesses and the team won the LCS championship with a convincing 3-0 over Team Liquid. This win marked the first time an organization outside of TSM, TL, Cloud9, or CLG had won the championship. At Worlds 2021, the team went 3-3 in groups, beating DetonatioN FocusMe twice and winning an upset match against EDward Gaming after already being eliminated.
2022 Season[]
The 100 Thieves roster remained unchanged going into the 2022 season, a relatively rare occurrence even for a championship-winning team. The roster's stability gave it a consistent presence at the top of the LCS standings, with Closer as a constant standout performer. However, despite reaching finals both splits, 100 Thieves lost in quick 3-0s each time. At Worlds 2022, the team won only a single game and exited the group stage quickly.
