Overview[]
The Chemtech Drake is a neutral monster and a dragon on Summoner's Rift. Usually referred to as the "Chemtech". Chemtech gains 0% − 200% (based on missing health) bonus attack speed. Each Chemtech killed grants a stack of Dragon Slayer. If the rift is dominated by the Chemtech, obtaining 4 Dragon Slayer stacks grants the Chemtech Soul.
Spawn[]
- At 5 minutes into the game, an elemental drake (Chemtech Drake, Cloud Drake, Hextech Drake, Infernal Drake, Mountain Drake, Ocean Drake) of a random type spawns in the dragon pit. When a drake is slain, the next drake will respawn after 5 minutes elapse, spawning with a random new element not yet chosen from the pool.
- After the second drake has been slain and the third drake has been determined, the map will transform into an Elemental Rift based on the drake's element (here Chemtech Rift). From now on, the drake will not change elements between respawns.
- The drake of the respective Elemental Rift graces certain newly-spawned or live monsters, causing their effects to be Draconic and their body to visibly glow. After void corruption enters the map, new monsters' blessings are permanently severed.
- Once a team has killed their fourth drake, the camp will now instead spawn the Elder Dragon with a 6 minute respawn timer.
Gameplay[]
- Passives
- Dragons are CC immune to all crowd control, except stasis. Additionally, Dragons' stats cannot be modified by any means.
- Elemental Dragons gain 20% bonus damage and 7% damage reduction per stack against enemies with Dragon Slayer stacks, up to 80% bonus damage and 28% damage reduction at 4 stacks.
- Chemtech deal bonus physical damage equal to 4% of the target's current health with their basic attacks. Additionally, Dragons gain 30% armor penetration.
- Actives Abilities
- Dragons knock back all enemies within Range center 550 units of them upon starting the fight, displacing them further based on proximity and not through terrain.
Chemtech Rift[]
- Mutates all life forms on the rift, enhancing jungle plants with additional effects. 8 additional Honeyfruit each spawn within both teams' bases, near the blue-side camp of Greater Murk Wolf and the red-side camp of Blue Sentinel, and the entrances to the river near the camps for Crimson Raptor. 14 additional Scryer's Bloom each spawn in front of both teams' base gates, near the camps for Murk Wolf and Red Brambleback, near both teams' inner turrets within the top and bottom lanes, and near each tri-brush towards the entrances to the river.
- Blast Cone displaces units hit by the explosion at twice the distance.
- Honeyfruit no longer slows champions that consume it and also grants them a shield in addition to the heal for each fruit. The shields gained from individual fruits stack but decay in total value by 5% each second.
- Scryer's Bloom now also reveals the area around it and reduces the health of all revealed wards to 1. Additionally, for 4.5 seconds after the plant was triggered, champions of the attacker's team, including the attacker themself, hit by the pollen gain 40% bonus movement speed while facing in the direction the pollen was released in a cone.
Strategy[]
- Killing dragons is one of the main tasks of the Jungler. Junglers often require assistance from their team for this task, and the champions best positioned to provide this assistance are usually the mid laners and bottom laners.
- When a team attempts to kill a dragon it usually gets weakened during the fight. Given the nature of the dragon pit, the team attempting the kill has limited escape paths. For this reason it's usually a good idea to gank the enemy team when they're trying to kill a dragon. A good gank may score several kills, steal the dragon kill, or both.
- Dragons (and other epic monsters) should be finished with effects that instantly deal a high amount of damage (i.e. Smite, Cho'Gath's Feast, Nunu's Consume ) to prevent the enemy team from stealing the kill.
- When initially attacked, dragons will knock back every nearby champion, and begin attacking and chasing the closest champion. Attacking the dragon from a safe distance to get it to attack an unprepared enemy champion can be useful.

Patch History[]
Patch 12.22 - re-added
Chemtech Drake is BACK and better than ever! Our goal with the new-and-improved drake is to encourage calculated, aggressive plays and incentivize players to fight to the end to gain the edge over their opponents. Go big or go home!
- Chemtech Drake: When the Chemtech Drake is below half health it gains 33% damage resistance and deals 50% more damage. This drake will deal 100% total AD + 4% of its target’s health as physical damage with each attack.
- Chemtech Buff: When your team kills a Chemtech Drake they will gain a stacking buff that grants 5% Tenacity and 5% Healing and Shielding power
- Chemtech Soul: Upon receiving the Chemtech Soul, players will receive a buff that gives them 10% damage resistance and 10% more damage while below 50% health
CHEMTECH RIFT
Alongside the new drake is the new Chemtech Rift! The Chemtech gas we introduced to the Rift in last year’s preseason was a bit ''too'' toxic for a good gameplay experience, so we opted to take a more measured approach this year. Now, instead of sitting on the surface, the Zaunite chemicals have seeped their way into the Rift, mutating the environment and enhancing each of the jungle plants with different effects.
- Stim Fruits: Honeyfruits will upgrade into Stim Fruits and provide the usual heal plus a bonus shield in addition to no longer slowing champions that consume it
- Blast Cones: Blast Cones will now blast units within their range twice as far when they explode
- Firelight Bloom: Scryer’s Bloom will upgrade into Firelight’s Bloom which will reveal a small area around the plant when broken in addition to the usual cone in the opposite direction it was broken from. Allies tagged will also gain movement speed towards that direction for a short duration, and enemy wards revealed will be taken to 1 health.
Patch 12.2 - 1/24/2022 - removed
DISABLING THE CHEMTECH DRAKE : The Chemtech Drake, Soul, and Terrain have been disabled until further notice.
Patch 11.23 - new
Chemtech Drake is all about playing on the edge, taking calculated risks, and fighting for every scrap. The Chemtech Dragon Soul encourages you to go big or go home, and trade your life for high value plays.
CHEMTECH DRAKE BUFF : Grants up to 5% bonus damage per stack against enemies with 340-1020 (your level 1-18) more current health than you
CHEMTECH DRAGON SOUL : When a team obtains the Chemtech Dragon Soul, they receive a buff that grants them a brief second life upon their next death. Champions revive with 80% of their base health + 50% of their bonus health and gain 75/30% (melee/ranged) decaying Move Speed. Revived champions take 40% less damage, deal 33% less damage, and take damage equal to an ever-increasing percent of their starting health every 0.25 seconds
You might notice that Chemtech Soul is similar to the Ruined Drake buff from Ultimate Spellbook this summer, and it is!
CHEMTECH RIFT : Gas zones emerge in four jungle locations that camouflage any champion within it. Champions within the zone deal up to 10% more damage to enemies who have more current health than them. Maximum damage is achieved when at 340-1020 (based on the attacker's level) less health than them
CAMOUFLAGE : Camouflaged enemies are not revealed by regular vision wards, but are revealed by Control Wards, Scryer’s Blooms, and effects that reveal invisible units. They're also revealed while you're standing near them
