Barrier is a summoner spell that is a self-targeted spell that shields your champion from damage for 4 seconds. As of the v1.0.0.152 patch, it is available on The Proving Grounds, Summoner's Rift, and The Crystal Scar. This is a summoner spell that usually ADC's and people who don't want to be bursted take. Such as a mid laner.
Patch History[]
We updated summoner spells a few months ago to give Barrier a real spot in bot lane. However, we slightly overshot and Barrier is almost always the go-to over everything else. We're slightly nerfing Barrier in order to promote more choice down in bot lane while also making those champions a bit easier to kill for bursty champions.
- Shield: 120-480 (based on level) ⇒ 100-460 (based on level)
We're choosing 2.5 seconds for the shield duration in order to make it a moderately-forgiving button to press that should reliably block a solid amount of damage, which hopefully outperforms Exhaust in 1v1 cases. An additional 15% shielding on top should make Barrier a competitive option with other Summoners.

Cooldown decreased.
Right now, Barrier doesn’t really have anything to differentiate it from Heal, leaving it outclassed by the less temporary nature of Heal. A lower cooldown should offer Barrier a unique identity as the go-to summoner spell against repeated assassin all-ins.
