Initial discovery
On March 15th, the VCS organizers had ordered to postpone some matches of the 2024 VCS Spring Split to conduct an investigation of the teams participating in the VCS [1]. After investigation, the VCS announced that all matches will be postponed from March 18 with the following details:[2]
- All remaining matches of the Group Stage will be cancelled.
- Results of matches on March 14 will not be counted.
- The VCS 2024 Spring Finals will also be postponed until further notice.
- The Group Stage Rankings will be calculated based on the results until the end of Week 7 (March 10) and this ranking will also be used to decide the teams participating in the playoffs.'
Vietnamese eSports News site ithethao.vn also published an exclusive article with a few players competing at VCS 2024 Spring, who were summoned by Riot to give testimony. According to the anonymous player, iThethao.vn has information that all 8 teams were summoned by Riot to VCS Studio to serve the investigation of matchfixing.[3]
Results of the process
- On March 28, VCS announced that it would postpone competition, direction, and training for 32 individuals and players indefinitely for investigation purposes.[4]
- On March 29, VCS announced MGN Blue Esports and CERBERUS Esports withdrew because too many members were suspended indefinitely after the investigations. Therefore, the number of teams in the Playoffs round will be reduced from 6 teams to top 4 teams of Groups Stage.[5]
- On Jun 03, VCS announces the list of sanctions. [6]
