The 2022 Asian Games is a continental multi-sport event held every four years among athletes from all over Asia. The event is recognized by the International Olympic Committee as the second largest multi-sport event after the Olympics. The 2022 edition hosts esports as an Official Medal Sport for the first time and features the national teams selected by the 45 members of the Olympic Council of Asia.

League of Legends was one of seven titles chosen, with the others being Arena of Valor, Dota 2, Dream Three Kingdoms 2, EA SPORTS FC Online, PUBG Mobile, and Street Fighter V: Champion Edition.
