The 2018 Season World Championship (Worlds 2018) is the conclusion of the 2018 League of Legends competitive season.

Overview

Format

  • 24 teams are invited: [Show]
  • Play-In is played in Seoul
    • Group Stage (Round 1)
      • Twelve teams participate
      • Teams are drawn into four groups based on seeding
      • Double Round Robin
      • Matches are best of one
      • Top two teams per group advance to Round 2
    • Knockout Stage (Round 2)
      • Eight teams participate
      • 1st place teams from the group stage each face a 2nd place team
      • Matches are best of five
      • Winners advance to the Main Event
  • Main Event
    • Group Stage is played in Busan
      • Teams are divided into four groups
      • Double Round Robin
      • Matches are best of one
      • Top two teams from each group advance to the Knockout Stage
    • Knockout Stage
      • Quarterfinals are played in Busan
      • Semifinals are played in Gwangju
      • Finals are played in Incheon
      • Single elimination bracket
      • Matches are best of five

Prize Pool

  • Initial prize pool is $ 2,250,000 USD (approx. € 1,950,734 EUR)
  • 12.5% of sales from Championship Kha'Zix skins & Championship ward skins is added to the prize pool.
  • Another 12.5% of sales of the aforementioned skins will be shared between all teams at the event.
  • In the event that a tie cannot be broken between Group Stage teams, prize pool money is averaged.
  • Approximate final prize pool is $ 6,450,000 USD
