Controversy[]
There were multiple controversies associated with the League of Draven Caster Showdown.
Toy Remote Control[]
Despite the North American team being ahead for the majority of the game, the match was sabotaged by Counter Logic Gaming's support aphromoo, who invaded the production booth with a toy remote control and caused EUWOTM8 to suddenly win the game with minions flooding NACL's nexus. It is unclear whether this act was within the rules of competition or not, as no rules were ever made available to the public.
Ringers[]
Another controversy involves the North American player roster. It is unclear if multiple ringers were used by NACL: Jatt seemed to be reading a book for the entire duration of the game, and a close inspection of playstyle and kills earned by NACL's mid laner revealed that it may have in fact been GBM playing Karma and not Jatt. Additionally, during the tea time, Phreak stepped offstage momentarily and then returned, suspiciously wearing a Cloud9 jersey that said "Sneaky" on the back. Critics have speculated that Sneaky may have disguised himself and taken Phreak's place. Finally, a player calling himself "DefinitelyNotHuni" was NACL's top laner. While defendants of NACL's integrity have argued that it should be obvious that someone with the name "DefinitelyNotHuni" isn't actually Huni, their opponents point out that the skin "Definitely Not Blitzcrank" is actually a Blitzcrank skin - so couldn't "DefinitelyNotHuni" actually be Huni?
Effect on the Result[]
Despite these controversies, the head referee stated that the result would stand; however, he also admitted that the outcome was "unlucky."
